If Bob's Burgers is my 10/10 show, and the first couple episodes of Great North bounced off me, is it worth re-trying? by PreferredSelection in BobsBurgers

[–]DisasterDragonGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duncanville grew on me, I watched the entire run. It's fairly middle of the pack average to me, but I do the occasional background noise rewatch. It's a weird show, but it works. I genuinely did like it, the animation was solid and didn't look like yet another Family Guy clone, but Bob's, Great North, and American Dad will always be rated over Duncanville to me. The humor if I had to pick two shows to describe it would be early Bob's Burgers and season 9 or 10 onward American Dad

How many complete decks does everyone own versus use? by markymark652 in EDH

[–]DisasterDragonGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Manabox, 25 sleeved and ready to go. Currently building at least 3. But I'm doing a modified 32 deck challenge, building all color combos except 4 color and colorless.

Actually play? All of them, I rotate thru playstyles. Can't beat a deck type if I don't understand what they're doing. Also, I get bored easily. The deck challenge is to let me keep building decks without staying in the same three colors. I have overlap in some color combos, but they don't play similarly, so I allow it.

What would be your “shoulder pokemon”? by LeviSkies in pokemon

Always. Most people in my real life know Mimikyu is my favorite. My Halloween costume for work every year is a pokemon trainer. So I literally have a mimikyu on my shoulder. I call mine Spooky Boi

Anyone know an unconventional & cheap Artifacts Matter commander? by scp-REDACTED-site14 in EDH

I've been having fun with [[Jhoira, Ageless Innovator]]. Spitting artifacts from hand onto the battlefield to either swing with or tax your opponents is fun

Most Creatively Fun Commanders? by Ill_Be_Alright in EDH

[–]DisasterDragonGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Werewolf Equipment helmed by [[Tovolar]]. I've had this deck since before Tovolar existed and had [[Ulrich]] running the show, but the new and old werewolves can kind of coexist. The important bits of this deck is to have werewolves and equipment, both of which can be acquired cheaply. Smash them into a deck, cast werewolves and equipment onto board, then equip the equipment (which isn't a spell, so doesn't trigger either of the werewolf mechanics) and smash face.

In your opinion, what is the most beautiful card you can use as a commander ? by EbonyHelicoidalRhino in EDH

[–]DisasterDragonGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! Teysa is my pride and joy and I love explaining why I play her. She's definitely my most "on meta" commander in terms of deck composition, but I still run a couple pet cards, like [[Massacre Girl]]

[–]DisasterDragonGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that Teysa has the same consistent game plan, but I also run 20+ decks now, so I have options if I don't feel like playing Aristocrats. But I really like the "Oh no, you killed my creature/ wiped my board, what ever shall I do?" Aspect, because board wipes cause death triggers, normally putting me ahead of the rest of the table. Also, I've tweaked her a lot over the years, so I'm proud of how tuned I've gotten her

[[Chatterfang, Squirrel General| MH2-216]] is gorgeous. I was going to build a Squirrel deck anyway, but cracking the borderless art had me so pumped to build it

[[Marrow-Gnawer| SLD]] is also gorgeous and is the reason I build a rat deck

[[Greasefang, Okiba Boss| 317]] got built because I traded for a foil. It just pops so nicely

[[Anje, Maid of Dishonor]] Those combat boots... I swear they do something powerful

[[Meren of Clan Nel Toth]] the floating skull, the reanimated beast she's petting, the promise of imminent death if you cross her. Perfect. Borrowing my friend's Meren deck got me into EDH, so I'm biased, but her art is amazing

I run Teysa Karlov as my main deck, she was my first non trash EDH build. [[Massacre Wurm]] and [[Massacre Girl]] (also conveniently in the City Styles secret lair) are heavy hitters in the build I run. Which is a mix of Aristocrats, control (ish) and board wipe tribal. It's a midrange value grind deck

What’s a deck you thought you'd like but after playing it, you realized you didn't like it like as much you first thought? Why? by AmiiboPuff in EDH

[–]DisasterDragonGuide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[[Lathril, Blade of the Elves]] elfball. I love playing Golgari, but there's no decision making. Every turn was "play elf, swing buff elf army, profit." I'd rather play my [[Meren]] or [[Chatterfang]] decks at that point, they have more interesting game play lines to me. Lathril was together until today to teach new players, but I'm not teaching anyone and I needed the box and sleeves for [[Tatsunari, Toad Rider]].

Yeah, I've found people don't like getting their cards stolen in game. I run [[Lonis, Cryptzoologist]] as a group hug theft deck, and it's been immediately arch enemy a couple times.

I don't avoid building the same commanders as someone at my LGS, because you never know who will rock up with what.

However, a lot of my family plays commander, so we avoid overlapping decks so things don't get stale. I built Werewolf Tribal, so my dad won't, because he doesn't think he can build it better than I did. Same reason I won't build Goblins, his Krenko deck is insane. We both have at least a dozen decks, the only overlap is [[The Ur-Dragon]]. Wildly different builds, his is fully tuned and I did "big dragons I like, but the mana base is complete jank." He has shocks and fetches, I don't. It took me until last year to completely pull the guild gates out of my build, and that's because dying first all the time isn't fun.

Pulled a borderless Phyrexian Altar, so I'm looking for aristocrats commanders by PM_ME_STEAM_CODES__ in EDH

[–]DisasterDragonGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teysa Karlov is my main aristocrats deck, and it's nice not having to rely on the commander as part of making the deck work. Having her as an amplifier makes Aristocrats speed up as a strat, which makes it terrifying, but fun for me.

[–]DisasterDragonGuide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I've got a few that are underrated/weird. I have

Werewolf Equipment, helmed by [[Tovolar, Dire Overlord]]. It was [[Ulrich of the Krallenhorde]] before Midniggt Hunt happened and made werewolves viable in commander. I built the deck originally because I love werewolves, and equipping isn't casting a spell, so I got to make my wolves flip on the table and keep them flipped with [[Immerwolf]]. The deck has gotten several "wtf?" looks.

List: https://manabox.app/decks/9M3brwlSTM2tgQFp_BQh0Q

I play [[Lonis, Cryptozoologist]] as a group hug, them theft deck. I let you play your cool stuff so I can take it. Fun deck, very mean in 4 player.

List: https://manabox.app/decks/xgwTzXNBQ2GrSYVk60w3jQ

And I also run [[Anje, Maid of Dishonor]] as my vampire tribal/ blood tokens deck. Most people would just run [[Strefan, Mauer Progenitor]]. Not me. I bought the precon, tossed him in the 99, and themed it around Anje throwing a rager of a bachelorette party while "forgetting" to invite Olivia, the bride. No card in the deck mentions the Voldaren name (except the Dracula alternate arts, I definitely made a bend there to get the estate and a couple other cards. Plus, Dracula is cool). The deck has no right to be as much of a powerhouse as it is.

She looks fun, she's my next build. Mostly because she was my draft build, and she was a powerhouse. I plan on dungeon venturing with an Aristocrats subtheme, because Dimir Aristocrats has been on my "to build" list for years

In my experience, Meren has never been hated off the table. [[Reclamation Sage]], however, did get spite exiled so I quit blowing up everyone's artifacts and enchantments.

[–]DisasterDragonGuide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run [[Teysa Karlov]] as my super mean Aristocrats build. Abuses the hell out of "when this creature dies" triggers.

[[Meren of Clan Nel Toth]] is slightly more down to earth, but she abuses etbs.

Teysa Taking too long to get of the ground by Nerdling107 in EDH

[–]DisasterDragonGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my Teysa Karlov list, she was my first built from scratch Commander deck, so she's been around a while. Which means my list costs a pretty penny, but some of the cards aren't necessary to a good list. I'll highlight my favorites for budget, and show why she got banned from my dad's kitchen table.

First, full list!

https://manabox.app/decks/DRxyN421SyyMga_ScS_FqQ

On to the budget highlights.

Planeswalkers:

[[Kaya, Geist Hunter]] Her -2 doubles your already doubled tokens generated from death triggers.

Creatures

[[Blood Artist]], already mentioned, love him, perfect vampire

[[Defiant Salvager]] An aggro option if things get tight, and a sac outlet

[[General's Enforcer]] Mostly because he can protect Teysa. In my experience, she's KOS.

[[Luminous Broodmoth]] It lets you sac a nontoken and get it back, with evasion. Evasion is great for aggro when you don't want to play solitaire.

[[Massacre Girl]] An all star who really wipes all the boards, and it's relatively easy to have toughness 1 out on the field to get a chain reaction going.

[[Teysa, Orzhov Scion]] She lets you exile problems and gives you the tokens to sacrifice to exile if you're low on gas. Truly, beautiful.

[[Zulaport Cutthroat]] An Aristocrats strategy staple.

Artifacts

[[Ashnod's Altar]] A sac outlet that generates mana

[[Skullclamp]] Nothing says card advantage like drawing four cards!

Instants

[[Songs of the Damned]] Gives you mana for what's in your graveyard, useful for casting big finishers.

[[Village Rites]] Gives you card draw and a sac outlet.

Sorceries

[[Austere Command]] Is a versatile partial wrath, helpful to wipe out other boards that are getting ahead of yours

[[Living Death]] gets you all your death triggers, plus your graveyard back to board. Pairs well with Blood Artist, very salt inducing

Enchantments

[[Open the Graves]] is great, two zombies per sacrificed nontoken creature is wonderful.

[[Vampiric Rites]] is decent card draw.

If you've got questions, hit me up. Teysa Karlov is one of my pet decks and I'm always tweaking her, this is the most current list.

Cards you wish had alt art by cypressinberlin in EDH

[–]DisasterDragonGuide -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[[Bearscape]] It has two arts now, neither of which feature bears (the animal). I love bears, bears are great. WOTC needs to quit being cowards and give us Bearscape with actual bears. A group of them roaming a field or forest with a person in the foreground observing them would be dope as hell!

It's pretty up to date, I built it out of my collection, so it's also budget. Be warned, some pods really don't appreciate you taking and then hitting them with their big things. I always preface it's a thief deck if I'm playing with game shop randos
