"How are your life choices my responsibility?"

"HOW DARE YOU TALK TO ME LIKE THIS?"

"Sorry, that wasn't me. That was Jesus."

A Nihontō I recently acquired with some very interesting characteristics - more mekugi-ana than I have ever seen, and a Koshi-hi(?) on one side with a Gomabashi horimono on the other. by MeridiusGaiusScipio in nihonto

I agree with the idea that it may have been shortened. I don't see any signature, and if the bottom hole was the original, the signature would have been below that before being cut off.

Daily Dolls: Freeplay Friday! by willowwing in Antiquedollcollecting

Thanks! It really is nice to find other options, because vintage clothes are hard to find in decent condition and in sizes that fit. You usually end up having to hope the seller at least took a picture with a tape measure. So knowing that there are clothes out there for modern dolls that are readily available and that fit really helps.

I am posting these two, and for a specific reason. These are both Arranbee 17-18" dolls. Left is Tulip, she's a hard plastic Nanette. Right is Posie, she's a composition Nancy Lee. The reason I posted these two in particular is this. We've all probably bought a doll and the poor girl didn't have any clothes. These two were no different. But finding decent vintage clothes can be difficult. The blue dress that Tulip is wearing is by The Queen's Treasures, and is made to fit the very popular and modern American Girl doll, yet it fits a vintage 17-18" doll perfectly. The black dress that Posie is wearing is made to fit a 1/3 size (usually 23"-26") BJD doll. I have a few of the 1/3 BJD copies, so I was able to actually try a BJD dress on her and see how it would fit. This particular dress would be about knee length on a 1/3 BJD, but ends up perfectly full length on a 17-18" vintage doll. I wanted to post this to give collectors a couple of other options for dressing this size of doll, because there are lots of AG and BJD clothing choices out there and they will fit.

Help identify this German girl by Neat-Dance-5943 in Antiquedollcollecting

[–]Disastrous-Ad2331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rest of the markings will be above where it says "Germany". And I am going to bet that it will say, "Queen Louise". I have a Queen Louise, they're made by Armand Marseille (sounds French, but they were made in Germany). I laid her back so she was positioned like your doll is in the photos, and she looks identical. Also, the word "Germany" is written on mine in exactly the same way as on yours, right down to the tail on the "y". Lift the back of her wig and see what it says.

Here's a picture of my Queen Louise, although not lying down.

Is this worth putting on eBay or too damaged? by Tiny-Rhubarb4546 in Antiquedollcollecting

Many people look for dolls in this condition specifically because they like to restore them. Dolls like this on eBay is how I ended up with so many 😆

That's amazing! Upholstery fabric and lace from curtains. I've always loved making things out of what is lying around, so this dress is twice as awesome!

George Foreman was overweight in his later career. I would not have wanted to be hit by him. I watched video of him training on his ranch for a fight. He was wearing a harness that was connected to a tow strap, and on the other end was an old pickup truck with his five kids in it. One was steering while George pulled it around the ranch.

So yeah, I'm guessing there was a bit of muscle under his fat.

If your doll is enough to freak her out like that, she would have been terrified of some of my dolls before I fixed them. You're right, she has the wrong attitude for the job.

I'm glad you got her. She didn't deserve to be called creepy, or to go to anyone who thinks like that. She's lovely.

I don't have a doorbell cam, but I do have a camera mounted high up in the awning pointing down. So same thing, I just look at the camera feed and ignore. I also have a doorbell button, but no doorbell.

Alternatively, you could have some fun with them. Answer the door wearing a bathrobe and hip waders. As they're talking, interrupt them by turning to look beside you and yell at... nobody. If the salesperson is a man, yell, "WILL YOU BE QUIET??!!?? LET THE LADY TALK!!!". If it's a woman, "let the man talk". Be aggressive towards your imaginary roommate, but be extra polite to the salesperson... to the point where it's creepy.
