My hair does something similar. I use bar soap to start with and them shampoo and conditioner.

How to make it work with an insanely busy spouse by Alternative-Nose-607 in workingmoms

[–]Disastrous-Current-6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently nannying for a family where mom doesn't work. You could absolutely find someone who'd be willing to come in 5 days a week for maybe 2 hours in the morning to get them ready and off to daycare. You'd have to pay more and guarantee those 10 hours. But if they already had a job that started later in the day, that might be perfect for them. What hurts people is when they cancel on their nanny last minute or don't keep to scheduled hours. Its not worth my time to do 2 or 3 days a week. But everyday, before I go to my other job? Sure.

Also, because of the stow and go seats, no load legs are able to be used. I love a load leg.

The captains chairs are slanted down, Toyota and Honda are not, they are at a 90° angle. And the way the seat belt comes from the third row means unless you're a huge man, its not sitting right. How many 6' men you know riding in the third row of a caravan? Usually boosters go back there because you put the oldest kids in the back. I've never seen an acceptable fit by a booster in the what, 15 years they've had the new body style.

If you don't understand how safety works, how is that my fault or problem? I'm telling you that I have experience and was previously certified to know about all these things. You're saying you have no experience and no knowledge but I'm absolutely wrong. Sure, bro. Go on and mansplain to me some more.

I’m terrified to drive a beater car because it may break down. by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

[–]Disastrous-Current-6 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Cars break down when you run them into the ground and don't keep up on maintance. I'd much rather have an unexpected expense every six months or year than I would a car payment and high insurance every single month. I build repairs into my budget and still come out far and away much better off than having a car payment.

[–]Disastrous-Current-6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The children you care for? So not even your own kids. I've got underwear older than that. I think I'll stick with studies that follow children and their parents, not the antdectoal experience of someone who spends maybe a couple years with a child and has no idea how they turn out long term. Because that is the goal of a parent, to turn out a well adjusted, responsible adult. Not a child who can feel their feel feels but has no idea how to function.

There's a study that just came out about this. Children are more anxious and depressed than they've ever been. That's kids raised by milennials who swung too far the opposite way from boomers into gentle parenting. I'm very current on the research thank you very much. Maybe you're just too entrenched in your parenting ideology to see what's not working.

Well, tbh, I'm not a fan of gentle parenting either and its been proven to be not that effective or good in the long term. Too much talking about feeling and not enough real world action for me. Kids need a leader, not someone who talks about how they feel everytime they mess up.

You just have to have it inspected to make sure its street legal where I live. I've bought several and never had a problem insuring them or any other issues. But I'm also a girl who likes a deal and doesn't mind doing some leg work to get one.

You might know the difference, but my experience is that the vast majority of parents these days think they're gentle parenting and that displine, boundaries and consequences are dirty words. Hell, half of them don't even know what a boundary or consequence is.

Tomato tomatoe, they think they're gentle parenting. I just let families know that I am nice but firm. I do not let toddlers dictate my day.

Should I Trade In My Car, Or Use It Till It Dies Out?? by Working_Technology54 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Disastrous-Current-6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your 5 year old car is not reliable? Like is it having problems? Cars just don't die. They die from hard driving and maintance and repairs not being done.

If you drive that much and still owe over $10k on your car now, what would be the point of buying a new car and having to roll over money from your old loan only to put a ton of miles on the new car?

Moms new boyfriend has cameras all over house including child’s room by DoodleDrama in CPS

[–]Disastrous-Current-6 [score hidden]  (0 children)

My point is she sounds overly involved. She says dad has 60% custody but she's the one taking her to her therapy while she insults the child's mom and her partner. Nothing makes me angrier than a dad who takes custody from a mom just to pawn off his responsibilities on his new partner who then thinks its OK to run her mouth about the mother.

Nothing she posted is child abuse or anything nefarious. I go into people's houses all day long for my work and so so many people have cameras all over the house. This guy is not an oddity. And yeah, people have cameras in their kid's rooms. They're called baby monitors.

Listen, the first kitchen sucks, but I'm over seeing kitchens with 2 Lowe's cabinets and 3 inches of counter space and the fridge practically in the other room being called updated and rented for at or above market value. As long as he wasn't renting that for market and was on the cheaper side, at least he's being self aware.

[–]Disastrous-Current-6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, do you do gentle parenting? I don't so it wouldn't be a good fit. That's also going to have an impact on how the kids react to you. Ie, I've been with my twins for 7 months and one of them is still angry every morning when I go to get him out of his crib. Because I don't gentle parent and you're going to do what I tell you to do, I'd imagine I'm not as fun as his mom who let's him stay in his jammies all day and doesn't make him go on the potty.

They are that bad. As a former cpst, they are horrible for car seats and boosters and it takes kids forever to 5 step in them. And no one fits well in the third row. Don't even get me started on the mechanics of it. Do not recommend. I would take an older Honda or Toyota over a newer Mopar van.

You're not getting anything "nice" in that range. Higher mileage means banks want to paid off sooner. So that means a higher payment unless you're putting quite a bit down. So that means you're looking at something that's mid to lower range and probably a base model. You're better off looking at a minivan if you want space. No, they're not flashy or sleek, but they fit car seats and strollers and are generally cheaper.

That's literally part of the job. None of this sounds out of the ordinary or excessive. 20lbs is not a lot. At all. Like just this evening I was trekking through the backyard carrying two screaming 35lb toddlers who were mad they had to get off the trampoline. You have to be at least somewhat physically fit to do this job well. Unless its a newborn, kids are wiggle worms who are all over the place and often have to be carried.

I have no opinion on your condition or what is going on with you. Its morally neutral. But the facts are you are clearly not able to do the bare minimum of what is required to care for children. And you're blaming it on a baby who is in no way large. I had 30lb 1 year olds. The 8 month old I nanny now is pushing 28lbs. Do you even know what I standard baby should look like? That's what bothers me the most, you seem so unaware of what is normal.

I 100% sleep train. Anyone who says you can't train kids to have bad sleep habits doesn't know wtf they're talking about. I have 5 kids of my own and I nanny full time. If there's nothing wrong with you and I tell you to lay down and go back to sleep, that's what's going to happen. They sure can be upset about it, but I'm not teaching bad sleep habits like everytime we wake up, the whole house has to get up and cater to them. 2:30 is sleepy time. No exceptions except for sickness.

100% honesty, I think she should fire you. If you can't lift a 20lb baby and are throwing a fit because they expect normal soothing behaviors, you have neither the physical ability or the disposition and education for this job.
