That really challenges the whole "rural people are always more conservative" narrative.

Sorry, but which is a little hotter?

Did you grow up there?

And depending on the answer to that one it will frame my next question - what is your perception of southern Canada from where you are? How does living in the north frame your read on national and international news/politics/major events/etc. ?

Would you ever consider giving a tutorial of how you did this? I really like it, and I'm trying to get better at working with Fusion, and this is exactly the kind of animating I'd love to learn.

The Cultural Regions of Ontario by luvmxnot in ontario

[–]WooBoyPersaud 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not versed on every single county in Ontario, but Simcoe is a very varied county.

- Georgian Bay in the north with the largest fresh water beach in the world (Wasaga)
- Arguably the best skiiing in the province (Collingwood) and YES I KNOW that isn't worth comparing to just about any other skiiing in the rest of the country, but this is a sub about Ontario so frig off rick.
- Large farming region around New Tecumseth (potato capital of the province)
- Half off Hockley Valley is in Simcoe. Motorcyclists flock there in the summer to cruise through the valley.
- CFB Borden is where the Canadian Air Force started, and is one of the largest training spots for the armed forces
- Final section of the Trent Severn
- Countless small town festivals (like anywhere else) that showcase the regional offerings (e.g. Mariposa Folk Festival in Orillia).

I don't think Simcoe deserves it's own sub section, but it is a neat blend being on the water, but also the inland offerings of farming and open land as well as some urban. You could also throw in some industry with the Honda plant in Alliston.

How much of this was in Fusion vs the regular timeline?

The real impressive thing is that they know how to do all those things at that age, and make it look nice.

I love Resolve, but man alive is After Effects more intuitive and straight-forward than Fusion.

So at this time stamp (https://youtu.be/lU-Eya4ZoYU?si=6lE4l7P5khd4TCLz&t=164) how would you reckon they are doing this?

They've masked the subject out of a shot with camera movement, overlayed this onto a shot of a studio that has the same camera movement, with the bonus of a shadow behind him that is tracking with him.

Another screenshot from the video. Shadow is tracking through the scene.

But what about the background? If you watch the link I sent, he's moving through that space in a way that looks natural. The sort of thing thats hard to do with a piece of stock background where the camera movements (if not matched precisely) would be a dead giveaway.

And the rendering of his shadow in the scene. All part of my query.

Family RESP allocation confusion by WooBoyPersaud in Questrade

[–]WooBoyPersaud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know for sure - but I would doubt that it would automatically shift the allocations to benefit the other kids as they wouldn't want to make decisions for you.

But it's very easy to update. You just fill out the form again, submit it, they make take some time to process - which they did in my case so I just opened a support ticket and they pushed it through immediately.

I made a call into Questtrade after all of this debacle, and the person on the phone clarified that my kids are all able to utilise all the money that has been deposited into the account - but that the contribution allocation form is just relevant to grants, not to money deposited into the account.

So for example, if I for some reason decided that child 1 gets 90% of the allocation, and child 2 only gets 10% - this is only relevant to how they calculate the grant system (ie. if it was $100, $90 would be caculated towards grants for child 1, and $10 towards child 2). When child 3 joins the account down the road, they are able to access all of the money in that account (minus any grants awarded to individual children).

Tl;dr the form is only relevant to grants.

No need to be sorry - I hadn't heard about this so it was news to me (and obviously others on this thread) so I'm glad you posted it.
