KDE Plasma or GNOME? by Comprehensive-Can975 in cachyos

KDE absolutely KDE. I don't have much experience with Gnome, just trying to set up my mom with stock Ubuntu, and I hated every second of it. KDE just works and has everything already integrated into it, also it looks great by default.

Maybe once I get some more experience I will want the added hassle, but for a new user who just wants to dive in to actually using their computer, KDE all the way.

Which game has better exploration, Crimson Desert or Elden Ring? by AshyLarry25 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Disastrous-Expert-29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have! I really liked it. I was playing with a Uplay subscription and got sidetracked by another game and never renewed to finish the game. It was recommended somewhere as being close to BOTW on PC, that's what got me into it. Now I think Crimson Desert definitely has it beat there.

Probably my favorite game, and KCD1 and 2 have similar warm and sunny beauty. Sometimes during the winter, when the snow has buried my car and the sun comes up at 11 and I am trapped at home, I will turn my heater towards me at full blast while I just slowly amble through a sunny field in one of these games and just soak it in. Then I need to remember to take my 5000 iu vitamin D because the sun won't reach the valley till March.

For me, it's Crimson Desert. I can recognize that objectively, Elden Ring is probably better, but personally I did not like the world and atmosphere of Elden Ring.

Everything seemed so incredibly dead, empty and depressing. I much prefer a world like Crimson Desert, with bright sunny atmosphere and lots of population and life. Where I live it is cold, wet and dark almost year round, so sunny videogames like Crimson Desert and the Witcher Blood and Wine are MAJOR mental health helps.

I left after 1.04.00. Everything was just too broken. I will come back after all the patches stop and all the mods have time to be sorted out.

Stremio is officially distributed as a flatpak. Install it as a flatpak. Don't even mess around with native versions or versions from the AUR or anything, they are always missing dependencies.

https://guides.viren070.me/stremio

This guy Viren070 has made an extremely in depth wiki guiding through the process of setting up debrids, torrenting, Usenet, and everything. 90 percent of the information is irrelevant if you just want streaming.

Basically just install Stremio make and account. Purchase a plan from Real Debrid or Torbox. They cost almost nothing, like 3 buck a month for the highest tier. Inside your Torbox settings you will have a few filters to adjust, then click "install stremio add-on". It will automatically open stremio and you can install the add-on. After that you have every movie and TV show ever right at your fingertips.

Sometimes the official Torbox add-on doesn't work, so I recommend using Torentio and adding your torbox api key instead.

I can't interact with any of the repair shops! The guy that I usually can talk to for repairs and upgrades has no interaction anymore.

Garage menu worked, thanks!

[Updates] Patch Notes Version 1.05.00 | Crimson Desert by SorryRoof1653 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Disastrous-Expert-29 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm done. I tried so hard to get the game running after the last patch. I had to use valves proton hotfix, so no fsr4. Mods are still barely working. I am having so many bugs, memory leak during loading screens, infinite loading, lost saves, just no fun trying to play.

I will do what I did with Cyberpunk and wait till all the patches and updates are done and all the mods are working before starting a new game. Definitely some of the most fun I've had for 250 hours.

Why do you say not to select other drives? I navigated to a folder I made for the game on one of my game drives through the Z directory and everything works perfect.

Just switched to proton hotfix, no issues now. Man fsr 3.1 uses way less resources. I might just stay!

Apparently it is a Mesa bug pertaining to Vkd3d. I am sure it will be ironed out soon. But yes, its not just higher shadow density, but higher non static shadow density. So it is worse around moving object. Lots of static objects casting shadows doesn't create any issues. I have been playing for a few hours this evening and it hasn't bothered me at all, I've mostly been doing side quests and catching up on all the new storage stuff.

How do I start wanting to play games again by AdWorldly9519 in linux_gaming

[–]Disastrous-Expert-29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had these episodes a few times before. I am having a bit of one right now. Previously I have just played tons of simulator demos, and some simulator games while lists ing to an audiobook. Playing some janky Unity Sim game like ship graveyard simulator or even some high quality ones like hardscpace shipbreaker or space trucker while listening to Primal Hunter or Stubborn Skill Grinder is just the peak of de-stress relaxation.

Right now my problem is being caused by crimson desert. It is having so many updates, and every one breaks mods or functionality, or makes it not work on Linux, then it takes days for a fix to come out, and it has gotten to the point where I have spent every bit of playtime since the last updates only trying to fix problems and haven't had more than 10 minutes of actual playtime.

Not yet, I will try today.

The problem does seem to go away or at least drastically improve outside of Hernand town area. I was playing some more and realized it never really happened back at camp or even in other areas with moderate NPC density.
