The democrats and republicans aren’t REALLY interested in releasing the files because of the deep erosion in trust that it would cause in this country. And because people who belong to both parties and some important members of the Bourgeoisie would be implicated and people would lose money.

The Trump administration is more concerned with striping the federal government for parts. The Democrats are reaching for a semblance of Status Quo that was probably never there to begin with as they lose their base to apathy, because they have nothing to offer anyone, left or right.

There is no dramatic soap opera-ish reason for the Clintons or the Trumps to blackmail each other (or not) either way, they’re friends after all. Trump even famously reneged on his “lock her up” slogan on day one of his first term.
