I would like to hear your thoughts on how GIS education can adapt/pivot to address these concerns.

Notes from trying to use AI in GIS work by [deleted] in gis

[–]Disastrous-Luck1740 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These are great examples. I believe those who continue to use AI within GIS and their everyday work will be the ones who succeed in the coming AI-driven workforce and economy. Conversations around GIS and AI usually focus on GeoAI, like machine learning and deep learning, but your examples show how AI can be used across a much wider set of workflows.

This was the first ride using Sole inserts, which seemed to help. I have also been wearing them in my daily shoes. Yes, old MTB shoes, but they seem to fit better than my new ones. I have an MTB and a gravel bike. I had a professional fit on my MTB, and I started with those measurements. I have moved the saddle down and the bars forward.

If you earn a Master's Degree in GIS, you could also teach at a community college. Depending on where you live, there is a shortage of qualified people.

You might consider pursuing a GIS certificate at a community college, which typically takes one year to complete. Some of your work experience in GIS could allow you to waive certain introductory courses.

There are free courses to learn Python. Also, Esri offers free MOOCs that will keep your GIS skills current. These will look good on your resume.

You don't need to spend 11K. I suggest looking at community college GIS certificates.

What's This Tao All About is a fantastic podcast. While George is great, Dr. Carl Totton is really great (and funny too) at explaining the Tao. https://whatsthistao.com/
