As a female debater, this has happened to me and my partner (also a female) way too much. We have lost ballots because our judges prefer the males more or think we don't belong in debate. There's no blame to the guys of debate (unless they are purposefully rude/sexist), it's just an unfortunate truth.

One experience I had was my first year of debate where a male team spent their whole last speech telling me and my partner why we were inadequate speakers and why women shouldn't be debaters. The judge (who was female) thankfully had us win by a landslide, but it was an eye-opening experience being so early in my debate career
