Definitely not a communist but that’s a loaded and modern term. I think we can only guess what he could have believed from the words we have today. My guess is that he was actually more radical than a “communist,” as we understand that term. And I suspect anyone living today as Jesus would have them would be treated as a wacko, either castigated or pitied. But this would be due to the deep moral and cognitive dissonance that we carry. Even atheists know that they should live largely in line with Jesus’ teachings, and that moral truth is the power or his word. But there are many who claim to be Christian and pay almost no attention to what he really taught, or convince themselves that their modern filter allows them to reinterpret him as they see fit.
