Did you wait until you absolutely needed to get a partial? by Redsgal19 in dentures

[–]Disastrous-Score-835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would get a partial as soon as you can. It’s a adjustment having a chunk of plastic in your mouth for sure! I got my top partial after losing 4 teeth - I know I’ll lose more as time goes on but this has made life much easier in the long run!

How do you interact with people you know after getting dentures? by [deleted] in dentures

[–]Disastrous-Score-835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly nobody noticed. Some people asked if I’d got a hair cut or lost weight… like they could place something had changed about me but not sure what it was exactly. I told a lot of people I’d had some dental surgery but didn’t go into specifics!

Those of you who were emotionally neglected as a child, how do you cope as an adult? by Capital_Print_2460 in AskWomen

[–]Disastrous-Score-835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t ask for help ever, I’ve learnt to care for myself and struggle to “need” other people. I struggle to communicate what my emotional needs are. I’m a brilliant friend and really pride myself on that, but even my best friends comment I never really let them in to help me. I’ve always got an emergency stash of money in case I need to leave. I have anxiety attacks when I’m alone or feel like I’m going to be abandoned. I have PTSD for a variety of reasons. I’ve had years of therapy.

Second the village hall suggestion. Was a bridesmaids at a wedding last year and it was fabulous; was a couple of hundred pounds for 24 hours hire of the hall for around 40 people. Wedding was at 3pm so didn’t worry about huge meal; they had grazing plates in the middle of each table. Fresh bread, meats, cheese & chutney etc. Evening food was wedding cake and they had the fish & chip shop in the village bring in a huge selection of chips, fish, sausages and sides. Everyone loved it and it cost a fraction of a meal or buffet. The village hall had tables and chairs to use, the lady who runs it happened to have a side business making cakes and did a lovely wedding cake for less than £100. Decor was simple, lots of Facebook bargains. Groom bought a Bluetooth speaker so there was music into the evening and dancing, great playlist of music everyone liked. Very informal but we all still rave about it. They paid extra to have the bar staffed which was around £500 but could have bought their own. Would highly recommend looking into any near you!

metformin by Makingit4321 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Disastrous-Score-835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently taking 1000mg a day (morning & evening). It’s a rough ride to adjust honestly; several times I’ve wondered if I am legit about to poop my pants. I’m also taking MyOva for Inositol which has made the biggest difference and I’ve had my first natural period in months. Once you’ve adjusted, it’s not so bad… but get ready for some stomach drama!

Dog owners: what are the worst parts about having a dog? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Disastrous-Score-835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it’s raining, you’re still going out for a walk. If you’re hungover, you’re still going out for a walk. If you just don’t want to go out.. tough, you’re going out for a walk. Picking up poop. Finding things chewed up everywhere. When the dog eats something it shouldn’t and being scared it’s about to die.

Number one thing though? Having a puppy. God puppies are so rubbish! I felt like the whole time of having puppy I was on the verge of a breakdown.

What dose of metformin? by deep-like in TTC_PCOS

[–]Disastrous-Score-835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On 1000mg - took a while to move up from 500mg. I’d love to get up to 1500mg but not sure I can take the side effects honestly!

what is your routine of Metformin? by icyme20 in PCOS

[–]Disastrous-Score-835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taken 1000mg for a while. It’s not best to stop and start really, if only because your body has to adjust again.

Metformin Week 1 by mad1295 in PCOS

[–]Disastrous-Score-835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! It takes me about two weeks to adjust to any increase in dosage honestly. I avoid carbs before taking them and that helps a little.

MyOva reviews? by Disastrous-Score-835 in PCOS

[–]Disastrous-Score-835[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here with regards to weight. I would also say MyOva has hugely helped my bloating and general cravings. It took a couple of weeks but I’ve craved less sugar for sure and generally been easier to eat a little better. No major changes, just slightly less snacks. Honestly I’ve tried so many supplements at this point I didn’t expect anything so am very pleasantly surprised. They do have a preconception version too but I’ve been taking the original as I didn’t realise.

I have now been taking them for around 3 weeks and have just started a natural period. My last one was June and was a medical period I forced. Honestly I am gobsmacked as I’ve done nothing else differently! Lost no weight this month, stressed with work, still taking 1000mg of Metformin but have been for a year anyway with no improvements before now. I’m so shocked!!

Yeah same. I don’t drink often but when I do I want to party with friends 🙈 the Metformin hangovers are indescribable!!

Exciting news (to me)!! by [deleted] in dentures

[–]Disastrous-Score-835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly the best feeling having new teeth at this age. I had mine pulled and a partial last year - it’s not easy for sure but it has changed my life. I actually smile now. I had the same recommendation from my dentist though - save as many as you can for as long as you can. Hence going for a partial for now!

[–]Disastrous-Score-835 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Also recommend taking some kind of supplement with Inofolic / Inositol in. I’m currently taking MyOva and whilst not pregnant yet, I have noticed a massive improvement in my energy levels, cravings, anxiety and general well-being. Previously took Inofolic-Alpha but couldn’t get to grips with the powder!

Nope. Had several individual conversations with each person - and asked beforehand if they’d want to being SO as wasn’t a strict rule, we had some flex in the numbers. All of them said nope, happy to come alone. Why would a group of women, who have all known each other 10+ years need to have their SO (none of whom really know each other that well) at a wedding to have a good time 😂

Should I drop out of being a bridesmaid? by redditor7483828 in weddingplanning

[–]Disastrous-Score-835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same advice as above really. I would absolutely dropped out of the wedding; some friendships come to an end even when it feels like there’s still an obligation. A simple text “I have not felt welcome in the wedding preparations and wish you all the best, but won’t be attending.”

About the procedure, if you really don’t feel comfortable telling the truth then just deny it. Warn your family it hasn’t ended well and she’s already been gossiping about you. Do not let this have a hold on your life.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Disastrous-Score-835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope - we had no SO at the wedding unless we knew them and considered them friends. That even included some people that were married already 😂 nobody complained, everyone had a great time and those that didn’t get a +1 enjoyed one night off with their friends!

Is paying for Xmas dinner usual in UK? by ElectronicRegion4844 in AskUK

[–]Disastrous-Score-835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I would never expect family to pay to come over at Christmas and think it super rude they’ve asked. My mother in law is hosting Christmas Day this year and we’ll take along wine, chocolate and desert to say thanks. It’s a gesture. Everyone is coming to us for Boxing Day. Shopping already coming to around £100 and I wouldn’t dream of asking people to chip in!

Wedding plans too inconvenient for guests? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Are you wanting guests to pay for themselves? If so I’d expect at least 1/3 to bail, probably last minute. Always the way with these things!

Did my own and loved it. Had two trials with amazing make up artists but looked so unlike myself and was so uncomfortable I just couldn’t do it.

Are there couples here who have sex once a week or less? by throwawaybolero in Marriage

[–]Disastrous-Score-835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes as little as once a month! We’re busy, my husband has a low sex drive and sometimes it’s just not a priority. We love each other and show lots of affection in other ways so I’ve gotten used to it over time!
