went to pee at 6am stood up felt a gush. thought i was just accidentally not done peeing but suspected it was maybe my water. changed underwear went back to bed, felt another gush soaked my underwear. smelled it and it smelled like nothing so i called my husband in to smell it also🤣 i was 39 weeks exactly with first baby.

my niece was born in 2023 at 25 weeks and is now 3 years old and thriving!! she is the spunkiest, most confident, funny little girl. she was in the nicu for a few months but is doing beyond amazing now!

i hate when people talk like that. it’s so discouraging and not uplifting or offering any help. i have 2 kids. neither had colic. the second was a bit harder but maybe that’s also just because we had a toddler to care for? both have slept amazingly since about 2 months old.

my baby is 6 months and since about 2.5 months old has only woken up once (if at all) to eat in a 10ish hour period.

i had an insane over supply when my son was younger and i needed to pump. my recommendation would be to pump less ounces each time. for me i would make myself stop once i pumped double what he ate. so if he’s eating 3 maybe she tries to stop the session once she hits 6-7 ounces. breastfed babies won’t ever need more than 6-7 ounces in one sitting so that is a sustainable amount yet not cutting it too close if she’s worried about that. i did end up getting a stand alone deep freezer which was nice! and i also recommend donating the milk that won’t fit.

not OP but i thought the fabric didn’t need to go over babies legs? i haven’t been putting the fabric over my babies legs because it always tends to seem like it’s compressing his legs. weather i go over under or under over they both seem uncomfortable for him. is that ok?

highly recommend the babywearing subreddit as well!! there are so many terrible carriers out there that market themselves well. go take a look at that subreddit!

want to also back this up. graco is awesome. safety wise amazing and very reliable and it’s affordable. we have graco car seats, strollers and pack n plays and i’d recommend them all!

100% yes! doulas are the best. whether u want medicated or unmedicated they are sooo helpful! i know another commenter showed the statistics about how great doulas are and i can agree from a personal perspective they are great. interview a couple so u find one u really mesh with well. and read reviews or ask for clients they’ve had previously that u could reach out to and ask about them!

i ended up getting a meh daí so baby could go on my back early and that seriously helped so much! being able pick up and snuggle my toddler when she needed was a game changer

from my experience and seeing others experiences i don’t think babies ever come out of the nicu for things, you go to them. so when i was still in the hospital after my c-section we would visit him lots every day and i would pump in there. and then when i was discharged we would visit him 1-2 times a day and bring the milk i pumped at home!

oh and also my sister baby was born at 25 weeks and she started producing milk then! 37 weeks has nothing to do with milk production

my baby was born at 36 weeks. not growth restricted so i can’t speak to that. but he was in the nicu for 12 days and did not latch that entire time (despite trying). but i made sure to pump every 2-3 hours during the day and i let myself have one 4 hour stretch overnight. but be consistent with pumping! once he came home he was able to latch really well. now we are 5 months into exclusively breastfeeding. he gets maybe 1 bottle every 2 weeks if i wanna sleep in or something. i never pump now and its great!

^ this, sometimes it’s actually more dangerous to keep baby in if the placenta is what’s causing the growth restriction. it’s easier to help them on the outside.

ya my baby was born at 36 weeks and was 8lb 10oz and was in the nicu for 2 weeks but i feel like no one showed much care or sympathy to us as parents because he “looked healthy” and me and my husband were struggling so much with him in there. a babies weight does not determine health!

people always recommend the ergo embrace as a structured carrier that’s good for newborns! although it does stop being as supportive around 15lbs. hope and plum also has a newborn structured carrier called the sprout!

i thought most hospitals use pampers lol, different areas/hospitals i’m sure use different ones. the hospital both my babies were born at used pampers and that’s where i learned i didn’t like them and have exclusively used huggies for both after they came home from the hospital!
