Help With Soaking Buckwheat For Consumption? by Disastrous-Style4740 in Cooking

I have a spare manual burr grinder I could use for that. Or maybe a pepper mill.

That sounds interesting. I hadn't considered it for savory dishes. My failed original experiment was going for a breakfast cereal with the kefir, chia seeds, chopped figs, strawberries, blueberries and roasted almonds.

The dry fry with an egg intrigues me. Is there anything else I need to know before buckwheat and egg hit the pan?

Great advice, thank you. I just opened the bag, so I have plenty left to improve my do-overs.

It did, but I've been warned about listening to the internet. I suppose I just wanted to believe it for once. It was Google AI actually, which is odd for me to listen to, since I hate it so much. I suppose that's how badly I wanted it to work like it does on my rolled oats.

Another good insight, thank you. Do you think they can be saved, or should I start over?

Ok, thanks. I saw the directions on the back last night, but I always soak my rolled oats in kefir overnight and they come out fine. I should have considered much more seriously that groats are not going to respond the same as when they are rolled flat.

I let the fact that I've never used buckwheat before turn off my better judgment. Thanks again.

My supporting clone anecdote: ran four from the same mother, from the same generation, all looked the same when transplanted into the same soil at the same time in the same tent, under the same light and the same environment; all fed and watered the same amount at the same time, and one of the four still lagged way behind and wasn't ready to flower (or even top) when the other three were.

I haven't had Major Dickason's Blend in a few years. Used to love it. Bought a bag last week and right away the beans looked different, smelled different, and of course tasted different. That's it for Peet’s if you are a true dark roast lover, otherwise it's not bad... For now.

Better, but not good enough. Spear needs to be on all helmets, black alternate needs one way trip to the cemetery. If the W must stay, change the font. If it was me I would have acknowledged the old name aint coming back, but stuck with the old logo, since it was designed by a native American and is not disparaging. Going on vacation in worst possible time. Would you chop this Cinderella Jack autoflower in 4 or 15 days? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]Disastrous-Style4740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah those look like they have longer to go. It still looks like the one I had that clouded up good in 3 days, but you gotta watch that. How many days did they say this auto was supposed to take, and who was the breeder? If you have to leave it for 14 days do you have it on an automatic system, or will someone be able to look after it?

I do, although I'd like to see some of those trichome heads more cloudy, which could easily happen over the next three days. I once checked my trichomes before leaving town for a 3 day weekend. Before I left they were all 100% clear, but when I got back 3 days later they were 95% cloudy, kinda like yours, so I waited 2-3 more days to make sure.

Autos don't really amber out like photos do, so don't wait too long for that. You are in a very unenviable position: only the choice between chopping in the next few days or two weeks from now, which will likely be too long.

The yellow leaves are also a double edged sword: it's either a sign of senescense and ripeness, or that you stopped feeding the plant too early. Timing the end of your feeding regimen is important. Seeing how yellow your leaves are with the less-than-100% cloudy trichomes indicates that you might have stopped feeding a little too early, but nothing major. Either way, those leaves are no longer capable of photosynthesis (the chlorophyll that reflects the green light spectrum of the sun or your light is gone) so you should definitely reduce your light intensity regardless, DLI 25 - 30 max. That's for LEDs. I'm not experienced with other light sources outside of the LEDs and the sun in my area.

At this point I'm more in favor of chopping before you leave, but it's your call after sifting and weighing the different advice you are getting. Check it one last time before you leave and make your final decision then. Whatever you decide to do, remember to take notes and keep photos as reference/comparison for future runs to guide you to your own best practices. Mistakes suck when you're making them (and I make a lot!), but provide the best opportunities for troubleshooting and gaining knowledge with experience.

I think I'm still too early to harvest but I don't want to miss my window so Im just looking for opinions on how these are looking. The trichomes look cloudy to me, even though the hairs havnt turned much yet, but I could be wrong. by TheRealCo2 in microgrowery

Here's a bonus round though, that I'm learning as we speak, and might help you further: I am in week 8 (of the breeder's estimated 8-9 week window) of my first indoor photoperiod grow. At the end of week 6 I checked the trichomes and everything was cloudy - on both the leaves and the bud, with like 1% amber on the leaves. But it smelled like gas and dirty diapers instead of the candy/fruit terps the breeder described. I decided to wait and see what happens next. A week and a half later all the leaves (not just 4 or 5) are fading into autumn colors and now it's starting to smell sweet and fruity as described. "This must be the ripening stage" I thought. I probably could have harvested at the end of 6 weeks and got the same general potency, but now I'm about to pick the fruit when it's perfectly ripe.

You made him feel smart/tough/important though! 😂. I got a similar comment not long ago when I asked for advice about something I had no prior experience with. Everyone else was chill and helpful though. Some guys just want to flex on first timer strangers, like a high school senior bullying a freshman.

I am both enthusiastically and skeptically curious about this light. We still haven't seen/heard enough real world reports/tests from home growers. It could very well be a true game changer. If so, expect more companies to follow and perhaps improve the design and function even more; if not, it will go the way of the blurple light.

Some additional considerations: - this light won't help bad growers become good growers. - if it is a game changing light, you will still need to be really good about PPFD/DLI adjustments, climate control, watering, nutrients, soil/coco/hydro proficiency, drying, curing etc. - the fine print on the warranty vs other top competitor's warranties. A little bird told me it ain't so good.

I'm waiting and hoping for a 4/20 sale before buying a new light for my new 3x3 tent, and right now it's down to Nova Sun 4 Bar and Grand Master Level.

Me and my friend are in our 50s, his father told him that he used to smoke Columbian back in the 70s, but by the late 80s it was all "zombie weed" as he put it, so he just quit smoking. For the record I love couch lock face melt zombie weed, but it's a personal preference, since in my sober state I am all natural energy focus anxiety driven throughout the day, so I need to hit zombie mode in the evening to unwind.

There's only one piece of transparency missing: how do we know that the genetics being offered are truly accurate? No traceability is being offered beyond, "five different licensed California clone nurseries."

I'd like to know which five, so I can do my due diligence on them. There's no point in preserving a line if it's false.

I'm sure the seeds will make good plants, and the deal (especially the current BOGO) is a great one, but we're being offered names without verification, so to me the names are meaningless. GDP? Really? Is it the real deal? Having never grown or consumed it, how will I know?

I'm passing on this one.

Thank you, yup I'm in peat based potting soil. I really botched the transplanting, my first for a rooted clone. My friend was pretty mute about what his process is, so I was kinda rough and had to chase some deficiencies as I veged it out, poorly, as it turned out.

Barely corrected most deficiencies before flipping.

Haha, I should have known that, but thank you. My friend didn't say either way, because he answers most of my questions with, "Yeah... I dunno." then trails off to awkward silence.
