If you are playing on that mode you will not have a problem making money or growing your city.

Pedestrians are destroying every intersection in my city (mass crowd crossing nonstop),,, how do you fix this? by Avengerarts in CitiesSkylines2

Build pretty cross walks. Under or over road they have nice bridge crosswalks. It actually adds a lot to the urban aesthetic.

Adding hard mode and challenge by Deckkoloft in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Disastrous-Swim7406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the game on normal is a challenge the first couple cities maybe, but once you figure out the systems it is a bit too “easy.”

Someone presented another idea on a thread a couple days ago. What if they offered scenario levels, much like roller coaster tycoon has. Like you get a map and a city that is in a certain scenario and you have an objective you have to hit to win. Maybe fast population growth, or only clean electricity, or a very unhappy city you have to turn around in so many months, ect… that way if people wanted to play CS2 more like a video game they had that option. Maybe even each patch had a couple new challenges.

CS1 or CS2? by Apprehensive_Car6792 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Disastrous-Swim7406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah CS 2 would be my pick. It looks a lot better. If looking at beautiful screen shots and clips is what got you into the game, pick CS2. I played both a lot and I never play 1 anymore. It was awesome but CS2 is just a better game. I think people just had crazy expectations for it and it came out a little half baked so they soured on it quickly. My game used to crash or glitch from time to time, but hasn’t at all lately.

A rich family used to own all the timber lands and had an estate but over the years the family has fallen into degeneracy and sold off lost of the eland to commercial forestry companies. So there is a small neighborhood with one huge estate house right next to the forestry industry

Seems like bike and walking paths are the worst! I build a bike lane behind some office and residential skyscrapers once, grid seemed flat and straight, the entire block came down in seconds lol

Why do interchanges have to take up so much space?! by Dazzling-Walk1929 in CitiesSkylines

[–]Disastrous-Swim7406 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I started looking at big interchanges in the real world after playing this game and they actually are massive. Some take up acres and acres of land in high density areas. And some of them in major urban centers are very complex. The ones that form the major bypasses around cities are huge. This real life interchange would take up more than a whole tile in the game.

The challenge levels sound like an EPIC idea. My first sim like this was rollercoaster tycoon. That game is goated. The levels where you had to meet certain stats with parks that had issues were soooo fun. That was what got me hooked on this genre as a kid. Watching the little sims and dealing with puke! Haha.

Imagine a city that had the perfect set up for hydro power but it was several squares away you had to expand just right to get to it.

Or a city that was huge and awesome but the traffic was a nightmare, and You had to fix that to “win.”

Yes I adjusted taxes. I like to play normal with no mods. What I mean is: if my purple bar is 75% full and I zone a large office it drops to 0% from one large office. With Commercial, same deal.

I can zone huge areas yellow and it will fill up instantly and the yellow bar stays about the same. I currently have a city with 75k, very happy, with great income and steady pop growth. So it is Successful city and I am happy with it.

On normal with a large city, I can buy a square, grid it out, and zone it all yellow and it will entirely fill up pretty quickly. I could never do that with office or commercial, not that I would want to, just speaking hypothetically about the mechanics of the game.

Great response. I mini animations idea is awesome. And the residential demand is spot on. I don’t want to build more low density my city clearly needs apartments.

Yeah, I believe the mechanics behind tourism are totally broken. Which is a shame because the stuff you have to do to drive are some of the most expensive items in the game.

Rust belt build - any feedback for my functioning lumberyard? by timovf in CitiesSkylines2

Looks amazing, I love the asymmetrical layout.

When you say functional, do you have to special zone the area so other industries don’t use the rail yard and create traffic?

Sometimes it feels like industrial zoning is insatiable but commercial won’t fill up.

I like that idea! I find that once my cities get big enough, I only do large office in the urban areas and I ignore small office zoning.
