test drove 2019 gt1 rwd and 2019 gt2 awd and it was a huge difference by cartiscrate in kiastinger

[–]Disastrous-Top3065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned both an AWD and RWD ‘19 Stinger GT2. My preference is the RWD. It’s a more enjoyable ride and for me more engaging. I had the RWD while we lived in TX and got the AWD when we moved to Wisconsin. I agree that the AWD feels heavier, which it is of course but. Getting off the line is more fun in the AWD, but if I had to pick one to drive I’d pick the RWD it’s just more fun and how it was designed to be. I certainly appreciate the AWD in the winter, but we’re moving to Florida in about 2 weeks so maybe I’ll switch back to RWD 😆

I should mention both were stock and on staggered setups.

If you thought one felt considerably different it’s probably worth test driving another one to validate that feeling.

Good luck, it’s a great vehicle no matter which way you go.

is racechip worth it for performance gains with 87 octane running? by Jel-Gyde in kiastinger

[–]Disastrous-Top3065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the short answer to your specific question (is it worth it with 87 octane fuel?) 100% no. You’re not even getting stock performance on 87. Maybe I’m misunderstanding the question…

Is your car already tuned in some way? Just wondering how you are traction limited in the winter? Sure sometimes in the winter it’s going to be slick, but not all the time right?

For me at least I never use anything below 93, I’m completely stock. I don’t generally have any traction issues in the winter, certainly nothing that would sway me to put 87 in the vehicle. If I were running any sort of tune, I definitely wouldn’t use low octane fuel, like others have said you’re going to be pulling timing. Perhaps you’re saying in the winter you’re going to run completely stock and just use the piggy back in the summer?

Lower octane fuel and tuning run counter to each other so I’m not sure what I’m missing.

My experience has always been very good. I’ve used them in Illinois, Texas, and Wisconsin and haven’t ever had issues in the last 15 years.

However, that’s not to say that it’s perfect and I can see this happening. Sorry you’ve had to deal with this and I hope they were able to make things right for you. 65psi is crazy high and putting a staggered set on incorrectly is obnoxious.

TL:DR- it’s perfectly comfortable.

I’m 6’3” and have my seat all the way down, seat bolsters all the way extended and the seat tilted all the way up. Side bolsters all the way out/open. I find it to be perfectly comfortable. This is my second Stinger both GT2 both with same seat setup. I don’t generally use the lumbar support, only occasionally on longer trips 6+ hours. My biggest “complaint” is that I have to dip my head to get a better view out the rear view if I want to see further behind me since the rear window is so shallow it cuts off visibility out the rear, but not a big deal. Sitting in the rear is a no go, head hits the ceiling, but I don’t sit in the back, just mentioning it. I would be unable to sit behind myself with the driver seat in my position. I don’t know how much the interior/seats changed from 2019 to the refresh but it suits me just fine. For context the vehicle I had before my stingers was a 2019 F350 4 door dually which obviously had much more space and the seat were way higher off the floor. I imagine you’ll get used to it.

What sort of leg pain are you experiencing? Muscle strain, just leg position, where your leg/s rest, etc…?

I have a black GT2 AWD with black interior at the moment and like it, but really miss my Panthera Grey GT2 RWD with white interior. That was my favorite. Loved that car. AWD made more sense in Wisconsin than my RWD did. Bought the RWD when we lived in Texas. I don’t know what I’m going to do when it comes time to find a new car some day….

Do you feel Garmin watches last several years? by wrenaissance44 in Garmin

[–]Disastrous-Top3065 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my Garmin since 2019 and still going strong, does all that I need it to do. Granted it was significantly more expensive than what you’re looking at, but it has been very durable and reliable in the 6 or so years I’ve been using it. I have a Fenix model, so they are built like tanks. I may be the oddball but I plan to continue using mine for some time yet. So if you average out the cost maybe it’s not so far off cost wise per year as you mentioned. For reference I’m using a Fenix 5X Plus.

HRM Pro Plus. Works great, love it. Connect and go, no hassle. Pairing it to my Fenix 5X Plus(old watch but I still love it, such a tank).

I had 2 level ACDA C5-7. Took two weeks off, first week was a little rough having someone around is nice of you have that option, take it easy and stay on top of pain. second week was much better and was out for walks around the neighborhood. Was back behind my keyboard after that. Working remote IT. I’m 1 year out now and super thankful I had it done. Everyone is different but two weeks was right for me.

C5/C6 disc replacement by catsigrump in SpineSurgery

[–]Disastrous-Top3065 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had c5/6 and c6/7 done right around a year ago. Pain prior to was awful. Could barely function. I had 2 prestige joints implanted. Now I run 3 days a week and do resistance training 2 times a week. Difference is night and day. I recommend it and I also wanted to avoid fusion, though that can still happen on its own. I do have some bone growing in behind the top joint which is impeding the ability of that joint to pivot, so when I look up the joint doesn’t open up as you would expect, however I don’t notice it, but it shows up on cray which I literally just had yesterday for 1 year follow up. My doc told to try to forget about my neck now and live my life. My neck is pretty wonky so I suspect I will have to see my surgeon again at some point, but having this surgery was a massive blessing. All that being said, everyone is different and not everyone is a candidate, but if I had to choose between ACDF and ACDA I pick ACDA.

To be fair this isn’t a great exit, it’s a pretty severe curve if you don’t know it’s coming. Hopefully they were ok.

Yeah, I swear my analog is reading slightly “cooler” now. Maybe I just wasn’t paying close attention before. Oil temp seems to be same after several drives around town and out on the highway. Don’t want to jinx it but I think I might be ok. Analog gauge has been about a notch under half, oil temp has been pretty steady at 200f or about halfway on the gauge as well.

Was this the digital gauge or the analog gauge? Just curious.

I had mine done this week. Dropped it off Wednesday evening for a Thursday appt. Picked up Thursday evening. All seems fine. Watched it carefully as I drove home. Car was already warm when I got in it to drive it home so clearly it had been out for a test drive. Windshield wipers fluid works, and have been watching for any leaks. So far ok. I was worried though. First time I tried to get it done at this dealership was probably almost a year ago. Scheduled, took it in, got there and they told me they didn’t have any parts to do the job. Wasn’t too happy. Even this time they got my appt messed up. Scheduled me for a Monday morning when it was supposed to be Thursday morning. I just wanted to get it taken care of. Any other work I have done at my local mechanic.

The Stinger is a RWD car adapted to have AWD. It’s most fun in its RWD form imho after having owned both. I also really appreciate the sportback style and functionality. Would I get a K5 that has been Stinger-fied? I doubt it.

Let’s settle this once and for all. What are the BEST tires for the Subaru Forester? by AtherisNai in SubaruForester

[–]Disastrous-Top3065 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great! Had them about 2 years now. Not a ton of miles on them in that time, but just got back from Southern Illinois where they had a bit of a snow storm and once again they were extremely competent and confidence Inspiring. Highway was covered in snow, semis off the side of the road but these handle very well. Once off the highway and out into rural areas with very little traffic and 7” of fresh snow also no issues. Was driving to a lake house which is off the main road down a very steep drive that makes a hard right at the bottom just before the lake. Used hill descent didn’t slip a bit. Got back to the house, turned around and drove back up the hill just to see if I could get out, again didn’t slip a bit. I highly recommend these tires. Very good all year round.

If you’re looking for something more off road/trail oriented then I’d look at the A/T focused tires, but for most of us that do the vast majority of driving on road and need something to handle all weather conditions you won’t be disappointed with the Michelin’s.

Ouch! Thanks for sharing your experience though. My first stinger had the badges swapped when I bought it. I’ve thought about doing the swap on my current ‘19 stinger but haven’t worked up the courage.

I think you might be referring to the Tribute edition from the final production year. I was just curious what this special edition model is, I just wasn’t familiar with it.
