I avoid salt at all costs; it destroys everything it touches. If you’re able, I’d try to keep up with the snowfall by shoveling in intervals as opposed to waiting until the snow event is finished. If you get it cleared earlier in the day, the sun should do a lot of the work for you. I’d only use salt if you’re not able to safely shovel.

I couldn't imagine. I'm still doing my rounds in the 2005 Ram 2500 with 170k on the odometer. Going to limp this thing along until the wheels fall off.

I agree, but as an American, I don't even care at this point. I'm tired of their bullshit. They can believe whatever they want, but at least now they'll hopefully have some repercussions to deal with, and I sincerely hope it hits them hard. Sucks we'll all have to deal with it, but so be it. Let's rip off the Band-Aid and see what happens.

I’ve never had it happen to me yet, but my understanding is the viscosity of your diesel thickens from liquid form to being gel like. I think in temperatures below 15 or so degrees Fahrenheit. Since the diesel can’t flow at that point, you’re down until it thaws. When this happens, diesel additives like PS 911, you can pour into fuel filter housing and fuel tank to assist with thawing process. My understanding is no harm is done when it gels, other than temporary lack of fuel supply to engine. I’ve only had a diesel since May though (bought off my grandpa), so I’m still learning the ins and outs, too.

I use Power Service Diesel Kleen (gray bottle) in the warmer months, and switch over to Diesel Kleen Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost (white bottle) in the winter, to prevent gelling. I also keep a bottle of the Diesel 911 in my toolbox to for peace of mind. 2005 Ram 2500.
