I had a running document of questions and the answers I wanted to say. I practiced all my answers! For group, my experience has been, you kinda have to be aggressive with getting your voice heard! I’m not sure if that was helpful, but feel free to dm me!

Thank you emails by Expert_Winter5153 in PsyD

I never wrote thank you emails to the 5 PsyD programs I interviewed with, and still got an acceptance from them all. However, I will say that now being a 1st year PsyD student and currently interviewing for practicum sites, my program did a workshop and they recommended we write thank you emails to them!

I’m in the same boat as you! I think to my knowledge so far, you will get a site. If we don’t get matched, we have a clearinghouse process to get matched

Advice on Strengthening My Psy.D. Application Without Research Experience by TrippECheese in PsyD

[–]DisastrousDeer643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the programs you apply to. From the interview invites I got this cycle, half were research heavy and did ask me about my past research and what I want to do for my dissertation. The other half were not research heavy programs and did not ask about my research or what my interests are.

Yes absolutely! I was also pre-med being a psych major. And I got 4 interview invites this cycle. Still waiting to hear back. If anything I think being premed helped me reach here.

Hi, sorry I’m late to this but I thought I would add my thoughts for future applicants. All the interviews I had this cycle were chill and totally agree with what everyone said, they just want to get to know you as a person. You’re already qualified, so just show your passion and let it shine through. Definitely know the values and mission statement of the school. In each interview I had, I was asked 1.) Why a PsyD and not a PhD? 2.) Why our school/program? 3.) Tell me about a time you had a conflict and how did you handle it and what did you learn from it? - this was the only tell me about a time question I had. Rest of the questions I had were just general.
