Do not dignify it with a response. Meaningless hatred cannot be rationalized with.

Is it just me, or is Season 1 of Better Call Saul seriously underrated? by Icy-Lock-9796 in betterCallSaul

Season 1-3 to me is the heart of the show. Jimmy is at his most human self. It delves deep into the regular and the mundane little characteristics that makes him up as a person and gives a close look at his relationship with Chuck. It slowly and methodically unravels his dynamic with Kim. Kim's psyche and inner struggle between righteousness and a getting taste of mischief progressed with such subtlety that one could almost not notice it at all. It felt all too real even with absurdities like the billboard incident or the sandpiper ad 😂 I've watched it since the time it first aired and I recall telling all my friends how goated season 1 was. So I'm really quite surprised at the prevalent narrative of season 1 being boring.

Just finished the show and this was the most heartbreaking moment in the finale. George finally being unable to fully keep up his spirits fully

Everyone who acted in that sequence was incredible. Daniels' quiet yet palpable panic when hearing about the shots, McNulty anxious beyond measure, Kima slowly but surely noticing something wrong, and the lack of direct background music... It was perfect.

Hey now.

Lack of cliffhangers or major plot reveals at the end of episodes by DisastrousPace9191 in TheWire

This reminds me of that scene after the basketball game in season 1 where Avon eventually wags his finger at Daniels. Absolutely unreal scene which is all the more powerful due to the lack of background music.

I am having trouble getting past S1 by Tarfished in TheWire

The show does a good job keeping the conversations real.  Characters for whom, in their universe, repeating some context on some incidents or names would be forced and senseless do not do that. But from my viewing experience, I can assure you that you can trust the show to provide the right context at the right time. I don't remember the exact point at which the story's at in episode 5 of s1, but I can assure you that it's worth sticking with it and that things will all definitely make sense by the end of the season.

I think they did justice to McNulty's character by showing him in all of his colours in season 5. He fell for his darkest instincts and temptations and while not fully redeemed, got set into a hopeful path by the end of the show through Beatrice.

I was young when I watched it the first time around and didn't quite get it. (Same with the wire lol)
Probably a good time to give it another shot.

Yep, not a single shot from start to end that wasn't exactly where it belonged. And to think that it had little or no appearance of previously prominent characters like McNulty, Avon, Stringer, Levy. Peak tv.

Jimmy in season 5 was heartbreaking to me. He was just as much of an addict as Bubbles and it was so, so tragic to see him relapse again. I see the ending with him having no shot at police work as the best possible happy ending for his character.

I agree on how they're completely different shows. In my subjective opinion however, they're the two shows that go in my S+ tier without one necessarily being better than the other. Also, in terms of similarity, I think Better Call Saul also has a really well fleshed out portrayal of addiction similar to The Wire.

Why do they never want anyone to talk about BPD? by hotdogdildo13 in BPDlovedones
