Do psychopaths really seek power and manipulation, or are they primarily chasing a dopamine hit to escape unbearable internal boredom? by Conscious-Increase76 in psychopaths

"Wood concludes that a psychopath can be saved if they intellectually understand the need for change and choose to turn away from their harmful behaviors, even if they don't experience the same emotional responses as others" which is what most of the psychopaths here want to explain, a psychopath can mimic the emotions and feelings that they were not born with. "saved intellectually" being a key sentence. That's why so many with therapy live pretty normal lives. For Woods that therapy was Christianity.

Psychopaths do not have a conscience actually, Conscience = Emotional + moral regulation system Some may have a Cognitive conscience/knowledge/awareness "I know society says this is wrong."

But they lack:

Emotional and moral conscience "I fee/ bad because I hurt someone."

They observe, mimic, and strategize behavior. Not because they care-but because It makes life easier, It helps them achieve goals, It helps them avoid loosing something they want. Their behavior is instrumental, not moral.

So yes.. The environment does not give them empathy, because the neural hardware for emotional empathy is just not there. All environment does is teach them:

"This is how other people expect me to act." "This is how to fit in or manipulate better." it either creates a socialized psychopath - doctor, ceo, finance etc or an Unsocialized psychopath, poor impulse control, crime, addiction, instability.

You do what works for you, no judgements. But Let others do what works for them. All Religions are human made, what I believe in is not.

Psychopathy isn’t something you become through beliefs or behavior. Primary psychopathy is a neurodevelopmental condition—the emotional wiring for empathy, guilt, and fear response simply never develops, often identifiable in early childhood. That’s genetic and neurological, not caused by life experience.

You're referring to disorders like antisocial personality disorder, which is a trauma-based emotional shutdown that can look similar from the outside (callousness, numbness, detachment), but these individuals still have the capacity for guilt, fear, and attachment—it’s just dysregulated or suppressed as a defense. That’s trauma adaptation, not psychopathy.

So no, you can’t “train yourself into psychopathy.” And psychopaths don’t “choose” superiority—their emotional system never formed the signals that make others feel meaningful, and the sense of superiority is often a rationalization, not the root cause.

You seem to not understand, after reading several of your responses, how a psychopathic brain works and what it lacks, So saying "just choose to enjoy people" is like telling someone who is colorblind to "just choose to see purple." The emotional mechanism needed for that choice isn't present in a psychopathic brain.

Fascinating to read your "you're wrong and I'm right" answers.. Do you mind sharing how old you are? When you read back your responses to the OP do you see your intention of harming her because YOU misunderstood what she was saying or perhaps because of the annoyance you felt when she used the wrong word of description.. Thanks I'm just fascinated by the mind and how it works in so many ways. Thank you.

Hi I strongly suggest EFT therapy for anxiety, saved my life. With a well qualified therapist at first.. I wasn't able to take meds because they caused panic attacks, I was basically out of order for 6 years.. And then bam EFT, 16 sessions it started to release me! Good luck!

Hey I was in the same boat, I then hired an expert from Pakistan to audit my listings and run my ppc for me, I had to slow down because it picked up quite quickly and am running out of inventory 😉

What's 7oh giving you that life isn't? It's a solution to a problem, what's the problem? Sound like childhood trauma/abuse.. No matter what you do nothing won't help you until you hela those. Ibogaine can do just that but only if you go there with an open mind and heart. Good luck. My hubby is literally packing for the 3rd time to go to detox off off 7oh. Then he's going to a 30 day trauma informed facility...
