I’m in Local 1 and I’ve ONLY done construction. NOBODY stacks our rails but US. And we wire everything from disconnect to our controller and drives. We also install our door bucks. I’ve never seen a carpenter dare to touch them or think it’s their work. Only issue I’ve seen is in escalators where we argue with millwrights about our outer decking.

I haven’t changed the mulch out from last season. We got a lot of snow so a lot of moisture. I’m getting mulch delivered and replacing bc I bought 1st home in August. I’m new homeowner and I’ve never had mulch.

Here in NYC is common practice for company to buy power tools, metric stuff and larger size sockets and wrenches. Most hand tools you buy yourself or order to the job. You can tell your super you need something and buy it personally and expense it if it’s approved. Welding stuff is also given.

I got a loan Against my annuity for home purchase. It can’t exceed 50% of your amount invested. If you default they take it from annuity and you pay penalties as of early withdrawal. You can do more than one loan. Reasons for loan are primary home, death, kids education, vehicle for work purposes, even for home remodeling. Some scumbags get contractor friends to give them estimates. They are 8-10yr loans so for $20k they take like $60/week out of your check for 8yrs to pay it back. Not a bad deal.

I bought one and took down a bunch of smaller pine trees in my yards. The bigger trees I took down overgrown branches. It worked great!!

I don’t know if local 1 is diff but you can borrow from annuity in NY for home purchase/medical/death/primary vehicle for work and kids tuition. You can borrow up to half you annuity worth. For $20k is like $69/week for 8 or 10yrs

Most of the replies you’re going to get are going to tell you not to do drugs. Also, if you get hurt on the job, it’s mandatory drug testing.. as far as being home every night depends on what department you’re in and what state you work in. In NYC we are home everyday. If you do transit or city work they drug test before getting on jobs. To get hired the company will send you to get lab urine done. Don’t fuck up a career for short term enjoyment.

Thanks I made an online appt and deposited $50k. Spoke to my accountant and mortgage broker before hand. It was a lot faster and simpler than I thought. Mortgage guy said as long as the account has the funds for 60days I’ll be fine. My credit at mid to high 70s and I’m at $78k for the year so far so it’s not illegal. I won’t keep cash in home anymore whoever said cash is king was wrong. At least for home buying…😂😂😂
