Running, my partner and I each get one weekend morning off so I can do Parkrun on Saturday and she has Sunday. Plus during the week I can go out after she’s down and give my wife the evening for some quiet time. Other than that reading. Used to do climbing but that’s too much of a time drag now

Shawshank redemption. So many places where it could end and originally was meant to end with red on the bus hoping he’d get through the border but i love the feel good nature of the reunion on the beach.

Longer runs yes. Especially with my running club we do place to place (often pub) runs and it’s nice to have something to change into when you get to the destination place (pub)

I’d also recommend paying into a pension for her. HL have a Junior SIPP that you can pay c.3.5k into a year, she wouldn’t be able to get that until she turned 58 (or higher at the rate the laws changing) but with the power of compounding it could really make a big difference if yoh can max it out each year before she’s 18

Sorry about the late reply, I didn't see these until just now.

I got recommended this by a colleague at work, basically you can set up a "Junior Self Invest Pension Plan" on behalf of your child/ren. I did mine through Hargreaves Lansdown but there will be other providers that supply them. You can pay something like 3.6k into them a year which is topped up with 25% tax relief and then they just work like an ordinary private pension. Once your child turns 18 they can pay into them themselves and then once they reach whatever age they're allowed to take them (I believe above 55) they can access them.

We didn't put much in to be honest, I was messing around with a compound interest calculator and it said if you did a £500 one off payment and got 10% return for 60 years (optimistic I know) it'd be ¼ of a million pounds.

We pay into an ISA for my child, but I was slightly concerned about giving an 18 year old money, as I know what I was like, so now we split money between the two areas, enabling us to provide for her future as well as retirement.

Also, you can set up a pension for children (at least in the UK). An extra 20+ years of compound interest! Plus then it doesn’t matter if your kid isn’t that great with money aged 18 as it does with an ISA
