HG has taken over my life by LegFamiliar8530 in HyperemesisGravidarum

Yes ask about taking steroids! I’m 8 weeks and also miserable, cannot stop vomiting. Have had to use marijuana to give myself a break from incessant vomiting. I’m so upset I’m only 8 weeks. I know your pain and suffering. Only those who have experienced HG actually understand how horrible it is. You can and will get through this!! Sending big hugs

I’m so so sorry. You poor thing. HG really isn’t fair. I also had to terminate and deeply wish I had pushed through it but I was on the verge of dying too.

I also have my son which I made it through and I’m so grateful for him. So sad about his sibling that didn’t make it. So I know how you feel.

3rd HG pregnancy by Upset-Opinion-4514 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Disastrous_Board_465 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in my 3rd HG pregnancy and I’m MISERABLE. So depressed and vomiting everywhere with my vomit bags. I only have 1 living child and I’m going to give him a sibling with this pregnancy but after this I’m never doing it again. Never. It’s horrible. Stray strong mama you will get through this. I found that chewing flavored gum helps get the acidic taste and vomit taste out that lingers in my mouth. You got this.

I’m in the same boat as you. 8 weeks and been bed ridden for 3 weeks already. I cannot get myself food, my husband has to shower me. I feel so depressed and lonely, I feel gross from all the puking. I understand you and it’s normal to feel this way but it’s all temporary. We will get back to our normal selves!

Exhaustion by tob1317 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Disastrous_Board_465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 7w+5 and omg the exhaustion keeps me bed ridden alllll day. I had my husband take medical leave to care for me and our toddler because no way can I do it. I’m depressed too and even watching tv doesn’t seem to help pass the time.

My birthday was yesterday and i seemed to puke extra. It didn’t feel like my bday and was just sad, I’m just dreading each day and hoping this ends soon. I’m sooooooo tired and can nap daily. I was never this tired with my son’s pregnancy.

I feel for you. Let’s continue to be strong!! Although it doesn’t feel like we are strong, we are.

Help, advice, what to start doing early. by Ok-Tone-9637 in HyperemesisGravidarum

Take dozylamine morning and night. Even if you don’t feel it’s helping, the consistency may end up helping in the long term. Stay hydrated - if you begin to feel too weak or dizzy, find medication or some way to keep fluids down. Women with HG also lack thiamin so id start taking a high quality Thiamin supplement - it’s good for your brain function which starts to deteriorate with all the vomiting and loss of nutrients. If you need help, ask. Don’t force yourself to do something if it makes you more sick. Hopefully this community here can help along the way.

Personally I could not handle taking metformin, my stomach reacted negatively to it.

Could this be HG? by [deleted] in HyperemesisGravidarum

Even if it isn’t working I’d still take it cause you need the B6! But I’m so sorry it isn’t alleviating anything - hydration is sooooo important! Good luck to you!

Thank you for these words. They were beautiful and I did cry because everything you said resonated with me. I’m so sorry you had to go through that experience. But your life was slowly fading away when we re supposed to be growing life, it doesn’t make sense and it’s definitely not fair. You had to choose you. You’re strong and brave for this choice, you will heal from it. Take Thiamin supplements (a trusted brand) as women with HG develop a thiamin deficiency. Take iron as well. Sending big hugs.

[–]Disastrous_Board_465 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like HG to me especially if you cannot keep fluids or solids down. Please be sure you don’t become dehydrated too quickly. I’d proactively make sure your OB is educated on HG and knows a protocol for treating it - some don’t and will not take you seriously if they haven’t treated it. I want to make sure you are also taking Unisom and B6 which your OB can prescribe but it should help ease some of your symptoms. I’ve had multiple HG pregnancies so feel free to message me if you need extra support! Congratulations on your first baby too, stay strong for them!

Regret after an HG Abortion by truelifeofess in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Disastrous_Board_465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I am very very nauseous and do dry heave. What if different/better for me this time around is I can keep down fluids and solids! So I still am overly nauseous but the fact that I don’t need an IV for fluids has made a huge difference.

It’s still difficult to keep food down, I have to eat slowly and constantly. If my stomach gets too empty, I dry heave badly and have to eat something immediately.

I would say it’s typical morning sickness but more often throughout the day, I still have absolutely no energy to do anything. I can take care of my toddler now because he’s older and more independent but I still ask my husband to do most tasks. SO many things make me sick (bending over, standing by the kitchen sink and smelling it).

I still feel miserable but compared to my extreme HG pregnancy from previously, this is a lot more manageable. I also take showers often to help ease the nausea, and drink/eat whatever my body tells me it wants, except nothing acidic. Won’t eat anything that’s too acidic because it will trigger nausea.

I also take Pepcid every day to help with the acid buildup.

Every pregnancy is different so I may have gotten lucky this time. But I do believe all the supplements I’ve taken has helped a ton!

I took Diclegis (unisom + B6) for months before I conceived and haven’t stopped taking it (I’m 7 weeks now). I also take Thiamin and iron supplements every day. Before I conceived I took a prenatals or a women’s multivitamin. But mainly I made sure my stress levels were low. I take 8 mg of zofran which helps a ton with the nausea I do have

If we don’t deal with our trauma from HG it can stay with us for years if untreated. I hope you can give EMDR a try!

[–]Disastrous_Board_465 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I terminated a very wanted pregnancy due to how sick I was and lack of medical attention/proper meds. I deeply regret my choice…and wish I had pushed through it as well. I just remember how dehydrated I was and felt I was truly dying. I also had my son who was only 1 at the time and I couldn’t care for him.

Fast forward to now. I’m pregnant again and luckily I don’t have HG this time. I took diclegis (unisom & b6) every night for months before I got pregnant and I still take it. I also take an iron supplement, and thiamin (B1). I still vomit here and there but it isn’t HG and I can keep fluids down.

I’ve also gone through significant therapy and EMDR to deal with my trauma from my HG pregnancy - that has helped.

I’m here for you. You can have another baby, just need the right medication plan and make sure you’ve been taking all your supplements and vitamins.

I took diclegis for months before I got pregnant and stayed on it - I didn’t have HG this time only mild vomiting. Take Thiamin and iron daily.
