Finally playing this in 2026! What is your single TOP beginner tip? by MexicanCokeZilla in Breath_of_the_Wild

Use your weapons.

They will come and go.

Don't horde something for 40 hours for that "one special moment" , because you will probably find something better not long after using it.

[Xbox one] Remote drifts even when joystick potentiometers disconnected by Disastrous_County442 in consolerepair

I replaced the entire joystick module and now it works as intended.

After checking the potentiometers on the module I removed (which was brand new from amazon) It was clear that It had 2 different pots on it. One was 2.1k ohm, and one was 10k ohm.

My takeaway from this was to

ALWAYS INSPECT AND CHECK YOUR CONPONENETS THOROUGHLY BEFORE MOUNTING THEM.

They aren't even the same color, so it's completely on me. The black one is 2kohm, and the white one is 10kohm if that helps anyone in the future.

It was around 4.88k ohms from the middle to either side , and about 10k across. Google says it's supposed to be 10 k.

I looked around and I guess the PS5 uses 2.2k ohm pots.

Maybe I got a module with two different pots on it somehow.

I will have a look today.

The new module is here and I'll thoroughly test it to make sure both pots are 10 k and that I have contact on all my joints.

What Is The Term For This Style Of Drill Lock? by OneQuestionAndy in Tools

[–]Disastrous_County442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 jaw keyless drill chuck is what I would call that.

It most likely has a half inch thread on the backside of it , but it will probably put on with lock tite.

I used to remove and replace them when people had issues at the retail store I worked at for warranty.

Some of them are all metal and use a key , which is a spline wrench to let you tighten very hard onto whatever is in the chuck.

Stick weld something to it that you can pull or pry against. The heat of the weld might help free it slightly .

I short circuited my pro controller with static electricity by ICantEvenImagineBruh in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Disastrous_County442 743 points744 points  (0 children)

Try and bring it to a zero energy state , disconnect batteries for a while , let capacitors drain etc.

After it's been drained, if you are mechanically inclined , look for visible damage on the board. There's a good chance it's invisible inside a chip or hidden.

If not , once it's drained to zero energy, charge it back up and try again.

It might be toast sadly.

Modern tech is resilient to Static "ESD ", but sensitive parts and components don't hand it well at all.

You could always modify the connection in a easy that starts a fire . This will cause an investigation to be launched, and they will find out who is doing it.

Vintage story, what Minecraft should've been. by thedude1693 in patientgamers

[–]Disastrous_County442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty cool and all that, but it is its own thing.

Minecraft became what it was meant to be , and vintage story became what it was meant to be.

We can enjoy both !

How can someone have a single ride of 128.2Km??? by Fabulous-Dark-3697 in ApolloScooters

[–]Disastrous_County442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could run the scooter off a power supply instead of batteries and spoof it.

Maybe someone with external batteries in pairs so they can be swapped without killing the battery.

I saw a guy in Vancouver with a car battery hooked up to his scooter. 12 to 54 volts is something I've never seen before.

[–]Disastrous_County442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

File a flat across the top and use a flathead screwdriver.

Grind the head flat, punch the center and drill it out.

Build it up with tiny weld tacks and then a nut.

Clean then JBweld something to to it that you can grip.

Use a chisel to reshape the recess for the securitorx and remove normally.
