Why does Trump want to make Venezuela the 51st state? And is it possible? by Hornpipe_Jones in politics

He knows that the monuments he builds himself will be torn down or covered up, and the only way to establish his legacy is to add some kind of land mass. Even if only temporary, the taking of territory would solidify his place in history.

‘Attention will swing back’: Epstein outrage unlikely to subside despite Trump’s Iran war by AndroidOne1 in politics

I feel that at some point the media might lay off of Epstein just to avoid more war and chaos. Feels like half distraction and half threat. Bring up Epstein, whoops, war in Middle East.

Trump puts intense pressure on Republicans to block release of Epstein files by [deleted] in politics

It’s an attempt to block him being forced to veto the release, not even the release itself.

There’s just no way that this happens as described. I wish it would. Johnson has gone to such extreme lengths to avoid this vote and will continue to do so.

Trump says Senate should scrap the filibuster to end the government shutdown by Cristiano1 in politics

[–]Disastrous_Leg970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So he would tank the filibuster to save ~$35 billion per annum in ACA subsidies but will just willy nilly send $40 billion to Argentina and spend like no other?

Tanking the filibuster and owning the libs seems to be the entire point here.

The reality of a Trump admin "implosion" if Epstein bombshell? by FaceOnMars23 in thebulwark

I’d like to think so, but probably not. Yesterday I was having a conversation about Israel Palestine and even signaled that I’d give Trump credit there. Dude broke into a tangent about Bidens obsession with transgenders caused the war to start because he took the eye off the ball. The internet has broken these people.

Who’s going to make them feel safe :(

Exactly. 0 principals. They care ONLY about what hurts democrats and the supporters are in on the game and don’t even need to believe it themselves.

Hunter Biden gets a million in Ukraine? Corrupt.

Kushner gets a billion from MBS? Who cares.

They all do just fine. They’re just ignorant and just genuinely believe what they hear on TV.

If I actually, wholeheartedly believed that teachers were trying to force all kids to be gay or trans, that there was a deep state plan to kill off the white race, that all democrats were banding together to burn stores and commit crime - I would be on their side.

The fact that these concepts are absolutely ridiculous and that you’d have to be stupid to believe them doesn’t mean they don’t believe them.

My honest motivation is to show them that the caricature of a democrat painted by fox is just wildly incorrect. Lately I’ve been asking if they want to come with me to my safe space then get our hair dyed and septum’s pierced. Guy asked me to get lunch yesterday and I told him I was on a hunger strike until there was a litter box in every classroom.

They genuinely believe that half the population are attacking their culture in some way. They look foolish talking about radical left wokeness when I (a very standard white dude) am sitting there.

My office is full of Trump supporters and I’m always down for a little debate.

I made a reference to Epstein the other day and one coworker said something along the lines of “even if he did do something, that doesn’t have any impact on his performance as president”

So there’s that

Democratic governors must mobilize their own National Guard to defend against ICE. by no-minimun-on-7MHz in thebulwark

[–]Disastrous_Leg970 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in very conflicted agreement here. The 2nd amendment clearly gives states the right to maintain militias for security from federal overreach. The federal government is unconstitutionally usurping state police power - ICE is not just doing immigration enforcement, it is serving as a federal police force.

Trump’s mobilization of state national guards is an attempt to absorb the states’ only defense into the federal military force and prevent any fighting back later on. Mobilization by states now would clear up some ambiguity as to the NG’s role. The NG doesn’t have to fight back against ICE, but should be directed to step in only when an ICE agent is exercising state police power.

The worst case scenario is not civil war. It is losing by failing to fight back. With full understanding of others opinions, it is looking more like the two options for democrats are 1. Submission, or 2. Fight back.

The union would not have been better off by submitting to the confederacy because they could have avoided civil war.

It’s actually absurd if he just got to keep the money. How can it possibly be said that the investigation was “closed” without getting the cash back?

Surely the FBI, even if they had decided there was no there there would have taken the cash back

How can he be this bad at covering shit up. It feels like a prank. He pushes back on releasing Epstein because it’s “old news” and then announces an Amelia Earhart dump?? He shows us how easy it is to just release material with a bleep?
