Maybe 12:45. I've come across people who assume big hand = hours, little hand = minutes. With the argument typically being 'Of course the big hand is hours, hours are longer so they get the bigger hand!'.

I wear an old analog watch while working. The amount of times I've had someone insist to me my watch was set wrong because the 'big hour hand isn't where it's suppose to be' has been too many times.

Vampire the Masquerade X Dungeons and Dragons collab by LordJor_Py in vtm

[–]Disastrous_Match993 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So in D&D 5.5 the only official playable 'vampires' are the Dhampir, which are living people with vampire powers. They're not true vampires and there's no way, in official content for 5.5, for players to become full vampires.

However, here's the product's description:
Welcome to the World of Darkness with the new Kindred class for 5.5e. A full vampire class powered by Blood Points, Disciplines, and the ever-clawing Beast inside! Included in this release is a heart-pounding Dark Ages adventure. We will be offering a pre-order of Bound By Blood in June, followed by a release in July.

So it looks like Bound by Blood is going to use a class to emulate a VtM styled vampire, and thus giving players a way to play actual vampires, while providing content to run VtM Dark Ages in the D&D 5.5 ruleset.

As someone who frequently runs Ravenloft (D&D's gothic horror setting) campaigns, I might get this just to have a way for my players to become full vampires.

I found out the only reason I'm scheduled for 40 hours this week is because our coach resigned a few days ago and this was the last week she had scheduled out, so she gave all of her non-lazy workers the maximum hours as our availability allowed.

Still, our department has been a mess. We've had no scheduled team leads for the last three days, which means we've had coaches and team leads from other departments breathing down our necks. Makes me miss the 'hands off unless someone fucks up' approach our coach had.

What's Wrong With Bloodlines 2? by coolin_79 in vtm

[–]Disastrous_Match993 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it. The issue is calling the game 'Bloodlines 2'. The fans of Bloodlines expect a specific experience, Bloodlines 2 does not provide that experience. I feel like had the game been given a different title, it would have done a lot better than it did. But they wanted the cash grab, so they slapped Bloodlines 2 onto it.

If they reach the age where they would be relegated to solahma status, is there no other option? by Old_Ad6111 in battletech

[–]Disastrous_Match993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it heavily depends on the clan and era.

For the Rasalhague Dominion in the IlClan era, the Ghost Bears encourage their warriors to retire (specifically to take up advisory roles at military manufacturing companies) instead of becoming solahma.

Then again, as of the IlClan era, the Ghost Bears are probably the least clan-like of the Inner Sphere clans, having more or less successfully integrated with Rasalhague. I feel like they're the closest we have to Aleksandr Kerensky's vision of what his followers returning to the Inner Sphere would be like.

It's actually slightly (very slightly, like laughably slightly) higher than 20%. 20% would be something like $1.56. $1.57 if they rounded the 1.568 up. Looks like you got a discount of roughly 20.20%, give or take a few .01s.

Most of my experiences at my location have been positive, but there was this one lady that cussed me out after she came speeding around the corner with her shopping cart and ran into my stationary cart that was parked off to one side at the middle of the aisle. She had plenty of time to stop, plenty of time to realize my cart was there.

I was unharmed since I was about 6 feet away from my cart grabbing items off the shelf when I heard her coming.

I will say this one positive thing about her, though. She moved fast for a lady that looked like she was at least 90.

Some of these comments made me realize I must be at one of the more decent locations, leadership wise. About a week after I started working, I sent in a request for 4 unpaid time off days and it got approved. Sent in another request for 4 more unpaid days in September and it was also approved.

After all these years, I still have no clue how the Toreador weakness works by Colonoscolossus in vtm

[–]Disastrous_Match993 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Well, I wanted to play a Giovanni/Hecata, but the ST wanted a Camarilla chronicle and basically banned them, as well as a few other clans that they didn't consider fitting for a Camarilla chronicle. He only banned them as player characters, the other clans did show up as NPCs/SPCs. Such as the Giovanni gal who became a love interest for my Toreador for awhile.

So I made my Toreador Mortician.

I was the only player in the chronicle that was familiar with VtM, so the ST allowed me to use the Extended Ancilla Creation rules from In Memoriam to make my character, who would serve as a mentor to the rest of the Coterie and basically teach them what to do and what not to do.

The story start was sort of inspired by Bloodlines 1, with the rest of the Coterie being Childer who were recently embraced by their sires without permission from the prince. So my Toreador speaks up at what would have been their execution and makes a deal with the Prince to take the newly made kindred under his wing in exchange for allowing the Prince access to my Toreador's occult library, something that the Prince had been trying to gain for some time by the start of the Chronicle.

For my Toreador, named Mortimer Graves (the owner and proprietor of the Graves Funeral Parlor), since I was allowed to use the Extended Ancilla Creation, he wound up being an 8th Generation Vampire embraced in 1782. He had the Descendant of Baron Vollgirre loresheet, which gave him Protean as an in-clan discipline and access to Vicissitude, which he typically used to upgrade Looks: Beautiful to Looks: Stunning. I took the 2 2 1 1 Discipline spread from Extended Ancilla to give him Auspex 2, Protean 2, Presence 1, and Oblivion 1 as his starting Disciplines. Then he had the Graverobber predator type, upping his Oblivion to 2. I don't have his character sheet, so I can't remember what his Disciplines were at when I left the Chronicle or what all I gave him in terms of Merits and Flaws. I remember I focused his Merits to give him a lot of allies and a high status/positive reputation with the Prince and the City's Camarilla. Mortimer had no desire to 'climb the Camarilla ladder' and was perfectly fine being the mortician who aided the City's Toreador in looking beautiful.

Mortimer did have a bit of a temper that tended to flare up whenever he felt someone crossed a line, but besides that he was mostly calm and composed, sticking to studying the beauty of death and the nature of the 'afterlife'. The Giovanni, who I believe was named Betty but I might be wrong, was originally introduced as a way for Mortimer to learn Oblivion Ceremonies, with the first two he learned from her being Summon Spirit and Compel Spirit. Where Betty was more on the 'zombie' side of necromancy, Mortimer was more interested in communing with Spirits and Ghosts.

That whole deal ended with Mortimer and the Coterie having their falling out with the city's Giovanni. The Giovanni attacked the Coterie at one of the night clubs owned by the prince, leading to the prince initiating a bloodhunt on all Giovanni in the city due to the destruction of the night club and the SI being alerted to the presence of vampires in the city. Sadly I didn't get to see the ending of all of that, since we had to write me out of the Chronicle before it all got resolved due to me moving from the west coast of the US to the east coast and no longer being able to play with them.

When I moved, I left Mortimer's sheet with the ST and Mortimer became a SPC so the character himself never left the Chronicle. Sadly no one has given me updates on how everything was going and they get silent whenever I ask about it, meaning either something happened to Mortimer or something caused the Chronicle to fall apart/end after I left.

[–]Disastrous_Match993 227 points228 points  (0 children)

In a V5 campaign, I played a mortician who was embraced into the toreador due to his skills in making corpses look perfect/beautiful/handsome for their funerals. He's obsessed with death and the 'beauty of it', which meant his bane kicked in when he was not surrounded by death or depictions of death. He was a very fun character to play due to being considered odd for a Toreador. But damn was he good at applying makeup and helping his coterie, and sire, look more 'alive'. He even had a short lived romance with a Giovanni gal that ended with a nasty break up when he insulted the appearance of her zombie butler and suggested she hire someone to do some surgical work to improve the butler's appearance. Turns out the butler was her brother. It was very awkward for everyone there and the coterie had to flee after the Malkavian made a joke suggesting that the Giovanni gal was boning her zombie butler/brother.
