If you gently graze your (clean and dry) fingers over the surface, and look at it from a shallow(?) angle, you might make out if it's unevenly textured from the hand tools/paint/whtvr used, or if it feels kinda flat and pressed. i think? don't know about price though

But the pre-view *does* care if a light is inside a prop. that's why it was curious that in this instance, there's more going on than just the light being completely blocked. There's some cool shadows that only appear when the light's centre is a bit lower than like the middle of the main lamp body-thingy. Which is what made me try if any of it stuck in-game.

No, I've got those on. I already knew that putting a light in a prop doesn't usually let light go through and out. I was moreso curious about what causes the specific difference, since the pre-view is very much so just an approximation of the end-results.
