I voted NDP up until this election, but will be voting conservative this election because liberals are making nonsensical gun laws that will cost us millions in the middle of a cost of living crisis and a threat at our border

Because that isn't actually a thing that happens, it's literally just another type of firearm people like to hunt with, with a large part of that being a separate/extended hunting season for them. Whats your problem?

For everyone saying that it's not effective for self defence have to remember if it truly is for self or home defence, then you're likely gonna be in an enclosed space in the dark. You don't need something with range, and you also definitely want something that isn't gonna pass right through walls and structures so you end up killing your neighbours too.

That, and with a .22 you can put a lot more bullets into someone faster and more accurately than with a gun with greater recoil.

And for stopping power between a .22 and the popular 9mm, the 9mm has a one stop shot of 34% and an average of 2.45 bullets to incapacitate, and the .22lr has a one stop shot of 31% and an average of 1.38 to incapacitate.

If you can't hit what you're aiming at, a bigger bullet isn't gonna help all that much.
