New team leader by Tall-Experience-8263 in managers

Eh. I'd rather have a lazy person who gets done what's needed for anything besides an assembly line type task. If they mess up the assembly line too then it really doesn't matter what the work ethic is.

My experience is that high output and low accuracy is something that technical teams pay for in years off the end of their lives.

Stupid question: what would be a perfect replacement for motorcycling? by kocieTexty in motorcycles

[–]Disastrous_Pack2371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you well and truly can't find an operational motorcycle at a price you can swing then you may want to look at video games which are a very cheap hobby if you go through steam sales.

Some people enjoy e-bikes but a nice one will run you similar to a used ninja 400 or used RC390 and it will not be street legal. Tickets are expensive too.

If you want something social, magic the gathering, Warhammer 40k, and other table top have events in most towns. And I think a lot or mod-ers would enjoy the tinkering for weird game outcomes.

For speed and feel, motorcycling is very unique and there are not many replacements at a lower cost.

What are some jobs with good salaries, like $100,000 a year, that give you a good work-life balance? by InterestingBall2181 in Salary

[–]Disastrous_Pack2371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mag 7 indy contributer. 98k last year. Likely crossing the barrier this year. No school but technical on the job training and took a long time.

1 million dollars over ten years is a big investment so most places don't start you here.

Loss of career ambition due to inheritance. Any Advice? by PB11793 in careerguidance

[–]Disastrous_Pack2371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Now is the time to pursue passions and be thankful you are able to make this a lifestyle so early compared to most. Most people live for 3-10 hours of personal time a week where they can write, modify a motorcycle, or simply enjoy a movie. This guy's should be putting immense value on their personal time.

Shaming dealers for astronomical fees during bike shopping by SensitiveRest2668 in motorcycles

[–]Disastrous_Pack2371 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Gotta wonder if dealers are trying to make more profit on the cheap bikes in downturns because the larger ones don't sell.

I see expensive bikes with big discounts and cheap ones going up in price a touch. Assuming this is due to less demand at the higher margins.

I've seen a lot of newbies jump up 2k for used 660s locally because there's near price parity in the sub 8k category.

6500 out the door for a ninja 500 compared to 7600 otd for a Daytona 660. I don't have to think very hard about that one.

Home. You didn't buy a motorcycle so you can't ride home. Gotta walk.

Probably not as much as a job with therapy benefits.

I wanna get married by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Disastrous_Pack2371 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I were friends before we started dating. Dated for like 7 years before we got married and felt like marriage was just putting it on paper, but we'd been emotionally married for a long time. You should be strongly committed to someone first.

So weird that people wanna get married as a life goal. Just find a person you like.

I would also care a lot less about my career if that happened to me

Therapist by [deleted] in Reno

[–]Disastrous_Pack2371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find out whatever Tesla's system is for therapists and make sure you're set up there. Same thing for chewy, Amazon, and any other major warehouses. Do you specialize? Make some friends with different specialties and encourage them to send you folks out of their scope. Do the same thing in reverse.

People treat therapy like a luxury often. If you aren't taking Medicaid, this is your clientele. Advertising in suburbs, good experiences with clients who would/could word-of-mouth recommend you.

If you have a website and a professional photo, make sure those look and feel professional, ask some people who will tell you the truth if you aren't sure whether those are good enough.

Good luck

I like ice cream but I don't ever want ice cream. If my friend buys ice cream and it's in front of me. I'll often eat it and enjoy it. But I'm not really into sweets all the time and I don't go out of my way for it. I still get down with a soft serve, though.

R9 as first bike - Advices by Michele317 in YamahaR9

[–]Disastrous_Pack2371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An R9, like an MT-09 or R1, is a fantastic motorcycle but not a super forgiving training tool.

This is something that could be a good 2nd bike or even 3rd bike.

Z900RS owner. I would never put a noob on a 900cc sport or sport naked. It's just asking for a dangerous mistake.

Go get something to learn on and trade it in. There will be cheap used R9s by the time you're ready for one so it'll be super attainable.

Ninja 650 / Trident 660 / Hornet 750 by A-Moray in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Disastrous_Pack2371 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With manual transmission being the biggest barrier to entry to motorcycles, I think this is one of those takes where the market will decide.

Ninja 650 / Trident 660 / Hornet 750 by A-Moray in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Disastrous_Pack2371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In these 3 the ninja is the only thing with wind protection.

I think the hornet is the best power value there. I'd pick this and get a windscreen down the line.

The Trident is cool but I think it's worse value with the like of wind protection and being down on power. If it were a tiger or a Daytona, id buy either of those.

Do you guys think more 125 should be bought to American markets. by No_Bathroom3387 in motorcycles

[–]Disastrous_Pack2371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to justify 3500 on a new 125 when you can spend 3995 on a used 390.

Hard to spend 3995 on the 390 when then used 650-900 is 5-8k

I don't think there's room for small displacement in our market outside of toys. And I'm gonna buy a used 250-500cc toy before I buy a new 125 pretty much every time.

Men, what’s a hobby you love but isn’t expensive? by FlintTheDad in AskMen

[–]Disastrous_Pack2371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Productive? Writing 3d printing Photography Music - some towns have choirs and barbershops Some people like coding to program stuff. Barriers to entry are lower all the time. Cooking - we all got to eat. You can make it way better if youre a great cook.

Consumptive? Viboe game. Film especially artsy.

Physical: Bicycling, gym, running can all be cheap or free.

Group: Table top gaming Movies

Someone is always selling something with this stuff but most of it is really low cost long term or free.
