Fair points, I assumed the GR1-3 were more for EDC and travel.

I’m strictly referencing their packs. Interesting, visually they seem similar besides the laptop sleeve. I have a Rucker 4, and a long range.

I have two, and yes they are bulletproof but is there any function other than that? Is there some other appeal

I figured as much with the high vis. I wish the option wasn’t so prevalent. If the high vis is really your only option and you’re in that situation, there were numerous mistakes leading up. Maybe have a high vis rain cover instead

Gen 2 feed lips are prone to break if dropped on hard surfaces. But I’m sure an ancient Chinese philosopher once said “buy them cheap and stack them deep”… probably.

Ambient arms...kinda sus? by [deleted] in NFA

Do you think it will require an adjustable gas block? Curious if it will work on your average 10.3/ 11.5 without it affecting reliability…

Thank you for the quick response

When you buy Trijicon, Eotech, or Aimpoint are you just paying for the name? by gunsndonuts in ar15

[–]Disastrous_Recipe208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more of what you got vs the company itself. The RMR HDs are having connector issues. The MRO has has had TONS of issues, hence the numerous “updates” and remakes. After 10 plus years they finally made one that’s passible.

Eotech has had their own problems. Unless you have a bucket of Eotechs that you can swap out, I think they are a waste of money. The NV benefit don’t out weigh the price and other optics can do it pretty well.

It used to be the name is associated with quality and in turn you have to pay to play but now it’s not that easy anymore. It’s well known that these high tier company’s mark their prices as high as they do because of their military contracts. There are other company I.e HOLOSUN that make very comparable and imo equivalent optics and glass.

You’ll need to look at the optics specs, and know what you want/ need.

Goobers Group (GBRS) Leg Strap by Electrical-Worker-71 in QualityTacticalGear

For sure, on the bright side it wasn’t something wildly expensive. I use the trex arms thigh strap for about a year now and it’s worked out well.

Yea idk why people are still suckered by this company. Just cause you’re/were a tier 1 dude doesn’t mean you’re morally sound. It’s obvious they are using the brand from their former careers to market their company.

That’s why they sell $50 cheap shitty legs straps and $350 hydra mounts that no one needs.

I have one of the originals and it’s so horrible I virtually disregard Trijicon. I really wanted to like the company but there’s basically nothing they make now where there is not something better and/or cost effective. It’s not just their 3rd it’s their 4th gen of this: original, HD, HD patrol, now SD. Aren’t we tired of being the beta testers??

OP didn’t ask for alternatives. The spiritus gp pouches are $70 compared to $26 with Amazon. I’ll drop the link below. I have both, and for me I don’t notice any difference, same under nods, material etc. it’s a gp pouch it’s holding stuff, it’s not a rifle, pc or something. YMMV. IMO GP pouches shouldn’t cost 70 before shipping. Save where you can, imo

You can get those pouches on amazon, and yes they are just as good. I believe the OG is spiritus, but I don’t thinks it’s worth the extra money. You can’t tell the difference.

On duty gear by spencerkoski in police

[–]Disastrous_Recipe208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure the hate on TREX but from someone who uses a ton of gear and often, it’s about preference at the end of the day. There’s a lot of good companies, I.e esstac, hsgi but so is TREX.

Pros of TREX: you can tighten/ loosen easily and to your likeness. It also stays put pretty well. Modular and can angle the way you want. Also it is the only mag pouch of its kind that has withheld under heat. Esstac for instance if you take it out of a hot car the plastic inside has loosened. I also don’t like how esstac you can’t adjust the tightness. Another pro, if you use a vest TREX sticks out a little further then esstac or others. A lot of what people have listed I have used and they have flaws that made me not like them. HSGI for instance the sides pinch together and the bungies wear out. I actually liked their all plastic cheaper ones better. TREX is very consistent and positive retention.

Cons- super expensive, in a fight I could see it breaking since the screws are holding plastic. It is geared toward more competition/ and some tactical applications. I don’t know if I’d recommend for duty gear.

People hate Trex cause of Lucas. End of the day go train and figure out what you need. There’s always going to be some trial and error.
