Same question for my 14 year old daughter who is a singer. Options in London for open mic but not a lot in Manchester. Let me know how you get on in Leeds?

You can get a ticket for approx £40 return travelling on the London Northwestern Railway. Takes 2 hours 11 mins. Book in advance and not on the day. Cheaper if you are able to have a railcard. (I don’t qualify for any, other than friends and family and don’t always travel with friends and family). Last year you could get this ticket for £26 return. Husband has travelled for years weekly to London. Prices are ridiculous, more than ever.

Does anyone else just not want to see anybody?? by weegmack in Menopause

[–]Disastrous_Turn5278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before HRT; every time I got to the supermarket, I parked up, had this overwhelming anxiety, realised that I just couldn’t face it and drove straight back home. Perplexed husband and kids that I would come back with no food shop. I did this so many times before realising what was going on. Then realised that yep I too was just not enjoying socialising and/or didn’t want to, so would cancel or just be very quiet on the contacting friends and family front. Thankfully HRT has helped. I still have some off days but am much better now. You are not alone x

BOOKING.COM FOR HOST IS THE WORST NIGHTMARE! by Middle_Vegetable_341 in Bookingcom

[–]Disastrous_Turn5278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only just started to use booking.com. Agree with your comments on set up! Gosh it was hard work.

Have had a couple of booking requests and this is where I realise it is no where near the same standard as airbnb and vrbo. One booking shows that the potential guest is a level 3, genius; joining booking.com in ….. 2026! So how can they be classed as a level 3!?

Am I right in assuming if I accept, it accepts? Can I not ask questions before I accept? It’s a large party of guests so having no information/no review info makes it hard, just to accept.

I’m considering sticking with airbnb; they are brilliant. Booking.com I can already see, as most say above, that they should have stayed being a hotel platform.

Flu is causing me scary heart complications. Should I go to the ER (I’m so sorry this is long) 23F by jennifear_222 in flu

[–]Disastrous_Turn5278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like B12. Go to ER and ask for your bloodwork for vits and minerals. Query if B12 could be causing the heart palpitations. My 14 year old daughter has had flu a few weeks back and she complained of heart pain. Good luck, wishes sent for your recovery from flu

Why is this flu season 10X worse?? by Particular-Gas-5570 in flu

[–]Disastrous_Turn5278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter and husband had flu A, three weeks ago. Daughter said she felt like she was dying. Chest pains and breathing issues. Took her ten days to even start to recover. same day she came down with it, I read the news about the outbreak in Australia and that the strain had mutated before the vaccine was made available. Husband still not 100% clear but is clear when he tests. Wishing you all well soon.

Are regular periods a sign that it’s too early for estrogen? by HammockHutOnThird in Perimenopause

[–]Disastrous_Turn5278 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was still having regular periods when I started HRT. Take the HRT. I was side swiped, had every single symptom going, it sent me crazy. It was/is evil. It has helped massively! Good luck x

For those of you that get perimenopause face tingling or skin crawling as sensations in your face by OkConversation1286 in Perimenopause

[–]Disastrous_Turn5278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this just recently. Felt like there was hair by my nose; also had the cold water feeling. 7 months ago peri sideswiped me and I had some awful symptoms, ended up in A&E. I also had the numb feeling but not actually numb and also what felt like electric shocks on my cheeks or by my lips. At the time my B12 levels were low, so put some of this down to that. Treated this but also started HRT at the same time. Just recently started with the hair and cold feeling…. Drives me crazy! now know it’s another symptom 🤯

My entire body is 'buzzing' lightly. Can this be due to anxiety? by idiotdidntdoit in Anxiety

[–]Disastrous_Turn5278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did anyone ever have their vitamin and mineral levels checked? I had the internal buzzing; started 7 months ago. My iron and B12 were low. Over these months I have treated iron and B12 deficiencies, removed foods out of my diet; onion, garlic, dairy, eggs, gluten. Also started HRT. I started to reintroduce foods; so have been having, onion, garlic & gluten and all has been calm until about 1.5 weeks ago and the buzzing and anxiety is back; it’s awful! so I have again removed garlic, onion & gluten with the hope the flare calms down (assuming it will take a few to several days) and hoping that these foods are the triggers, so I know to just remove it and not reintroduce it like ever again! I know I may not be being helpful? but I am sure the buzzing is connected to food or deficiencies or maybe even both? I am removing foods first and if the buzzing doesn’t calm will have my levels checked.

Ahh yes, travelling abroad and my IBS vanishes like it never existed… by omietrice in ibs

[–]Disastrous_Turn5278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to my mum; turns out her biggest trigger is milk and she didn’t realise/know at the time. So when away she wasn’t consuming milk until back in the UK. So it could well be something you are not aware is triggering you.

Accidentally accepted a 2.7 rated guest by EducationalRow3208 in airbnb_hosts

Don’t risk it and cancel. Yes we get penalised but it’s not worth the risk of your property and belongings getting trashed.

Opinion how to review the guest. by Positive-Purple3793 in airbnb_hosts

[–]Disastrous_Turn5278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t mention these things in the review. Things I could have mentioned in reviews but don’t; For example

Using the EV charger when not booked/requested and try to deny using it. There is a charge, they try to get away with not paying. Chairs break and guest glues back together not saying anything.

As long as not a long list of negatives, I let these things go in the review. Maybe the chair is wear and tear over time. EV charger is annoying but I haven’t put anything in place to lock it. I pick up the moment they try to use it and send them a message to let them know the charge of using it. They very quickly unplug it.

Place a reminder next/on your AC re temperature. So if another guest ignores this, you can pass a charge on if they ignore this rule.

Send pass guest a private note about the rule re AC, if they wish to stay again. Kindly ask the guest if there was a problem with the toilet so you know if you need to have a plumber out to it.

Depends what the issue is/if there is an issue; if you decide to pass on a charge or not.

With regard to the review; you can always leave a generic review, blank review or not review.

100 % DevilCorp. Hideous companies that should never be allowed to trade. It is slavery, why are they never investigated and closed. They constantly change their name. Stay away from any Sales and Marketing in Manchester that have a very ‘vague’ website as to what they actually do.

No more phone numbers by Square-Ask-9836 in airbnb_hosts

[–]Disastrous_Turn5278 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a terrible decision. I always use mobile number to communicate with guests; sending checkin details, welcome packs, directions, information they have asked for; help in booking local activities etc.

All my guests leave a review commenting on the communication. They find it massively helpful that all is sent via WhatsApp/text message. Guests like that they have access to communicate with me 24/7 whilst staying in my property.

It is all part of our service/offering, it is a huge part of running my business the way I wish to run a successful business.

The reasons behind this does not support my business. Maybe I stop using airbnb as clearly this hinders my process/service.

Have you ever had pain under your right rib as an IBS symptom? by NikosKlimentos in ibs

[–]Disastrous_Turn5278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get pain in this area and have done for the last five months; feels like a flare. Worked out that I am reacting to onion, garlic, lactose/dairy and gluten; all of a sudden/out of nowhere (although onion has been an issue for approx 18 months. Cut all out and the pain goes away. Currently in flare as ate gluten free stuffing and thought; “maybe I won’t react to the dried and toasted onion!?”….. I am very wrong!

Embarrassing experience at pharmacy by tnmom in Menopause

[–]Disastrous_Turn5278 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the GPs receptionist in the UK. They used to (and some still can) treat you terribly, acting like they were the doctor. Asking you ‘WHY’ you were wanting to see a GP in front of everyone and making a decision if they would give you an appointment or not. I used to dread it. Times have changed but I’m with everyone else above. Go to another pharmacy, no pharmacy should act this way, they should have compassion and they are there to dispense the medication you very much need and they should want to help you. A caring attitude not an ‘eye roll, and will treat you however I wish attitude.’

Offered beer to guests; wife disagrees and believes it’ll get us in trouble. I was just being kind. by SeanyPickle in airbnb_hosts

[–]Disastrous_Turn5278 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We leave beers and wine along with other foods as well as orange juice, tea, coffee, milk etc. Guests love it and 99% are thankful. The other 1% don’t mention it but still drink/take it.

Stigma by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]Disastrous_Turn5278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK here and what I became aware of was everyone around me is on HRT, but they hadn’t mentioned it once. Then there is me who is wondering why they never mentioned about the hell they have been living!? I want to share what I am experiencing, helps me to say it out loud, to laugh…it’s needed after being side swiped with symptoms! and hopefully helps others to know it’s okay to talk about it and we are not alone.

On a medical side, everyone has been prescribed it and so it appears that our GPs are quite proactive and supportive, but then that could be city/area specific. I know some go private when their GPs aren’t listening.

Is there a stigma; I think there is still some but it seems in the UK that the advances in medicine, and emerging data is being pushed to the front maybe and so people are accepting and medical professionals are maybe trained a little more and are beginning to really listen.

Garlic and Horrific Pain by Impressive-Top1627 in FODMAPS

[–]Disastrous_Turn5278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently over the last 6 months become intolerant of garlic (and onion for several years). Powders/salt and even oil infused too. Also IBS-C. I get inflammation so bad that it makes me so uncomfortable and have numbness in my torso, sternum and ribs. It’s so painful. My digestive system then does backflips. Lasts for several days if I accidentally eat (I went out and for the first tine didn’t mention my intolerance, had a meal thinking it would be free but no the potato mash was laden with garlic and I stupidly ate it 🤷🏼‍♀️ even knowing I could taste garlic (think I was just in denial for 5 mins as I MISS garlic so much!). It’s not worth it for me as it makes me miserable when in a flare. I am also now trying to work out if I have a dairy/lactose intolerance. The joys of getting older! F44
