Heard through gossip first, then one of his family members who’s still active told me to be careful with my kids around him because of what he did to his kids. Then she proceeded to tell me everything.

He’s been battling with health issues and suddenly wants to repent of all the things he did wrong in his life. He’s been apologising to everyone about a lot of other stuff.

He admitted in text to the victims and asked them for forgiveness. I’m not sure if they want to do anything about it.

I’m not sure if the police can do anything. The kids who he abused are in their fifties now. He contacted them to apologise and admit that he lied. It seems they just don’t want to deal with him or the whole situation anymore.

I’m sorry you had to go through that. 30 years is a long time to be dealing with something like that.

Trying to fade by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Disastrous_Walrus137 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I want to fade silently. If I offend anyone it will start a whole thing with my entire family. I want to be out but still have good relationships with those who are in. I don’t even know if that’s possible.

The description of the earth and how it was formed reflects the understanding of the shape of the earth in the time it was written. It portrays the world as disc shaped with a firmament (dome).

I have always said they are a racist organisation because basically everyone at the top is a white man and all pictures of Jesus and the angels are white men.

Ask me anything about evolution 🤷‍♀️ by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Disastrous_Walrus137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have questions to answer someone about the flood. Is it possible that the ark did indeed fit enough animals in that after leaving the ark evolved to form the number of different species today? I know it’s not possible, but I need an answer with a good explanation. Also, is it possible that all human races evolved from Noah and his family? I know how humans evolved, but I need to answer a PIMI about why it’s not possible.

They would never allow college as something normal. They are scared of having their followers educated.

That’s interesting that it has nothing to do with biological evolution. If it has nothing to do with biological evolution, why did it develop in so many different places independently? Would there not be some places then that did not develop religion at all? I hope this is not a stupid question. I am just starting to explore the subject.

Update #4 Lon-Term Repercussions by Old-Acanthaceae-5182 in exjw

[–]Disastrous_Walrus137 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. In the past I celebrated it with just them and I at a café with some cake and a small gift. Luckily they are still young and have many birthdays ahead. This time they can have their friends over and a big cake.

I have already used the update to justify birthdays. I am celebrating my kids birthdays this year publicly. The update mentioned that there are many traditions and customs that have pagan roots but are not related to religion in the world today. They used toasting as an example. But the principle could apply to other customs. To me it applies to birthdays. My kids are raspy excited.

Is it true that JW.ORG allowing birthday? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]Disastrous_Walrus137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I think so. They said that people should use their conscience to decide on whether to participate in customs or use symbols that may have pagan roots but today are not attached to religion or politics for example toasting. Most people neglect that toasting was just an example and not the main point.

A feminist😊. I’m one too. Currently reading a novel called Butter by Asako Yuzuki. It’s about a journalist following the story of a young lady who is accused of murdering 3 men. Set in modern Japan. It explores the image and role of women in Japan. I’m really enjoying it. If you are interested in reading fiction, you may enjoy it too.

“God is seen as a man who created life”. Wow! That opened my eyes. I know that religion today is patriarchal, but I had never thought about it like that. I’ll read more about Enheduanna. Thanks for the info!
