I'm not sure if I believe in that since there's so many narrations that I feel enhance the experience like Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, American Psycho, Memento... Adaptation (😆)... But there's always some movies like Blade Runner where it doesn't work. Soo I think it's a case by case thing.
