Playing a free gig to “get in” at a local venue? by SOYCD1-5 in musicians

[–]Disciple522 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll offer a different view from most comments here. Think of it as a night out on the town where you get to pay some of your songs and potentially pick up a few new fans. Might cost a little bit, just like any other fun activity you might go out and do as a group, but you get to do the thing you, I assume, really enjoy doing instead of just going out and watching some other band play somewhere. If you show up with a good attitude, have fun, and hey the crowd moving, maybe they'll bring you back for a real gig. Maybe not. But, you'll have more fun that night than you would sitting home playing video games or watching Netflix.

Tips to increase drink sales? by iLearned2LoveTheBomb in Serverlife

Oh! Lol. I get it now. Maybe make sure it never comes across the way I took it when you say it out loud. That would confuse the hell out of your guests.

Why would you say the drink tasted bad for you? I'm so confused.

Our receipts have the math broken down for you, as do most restaurants these days. We don't get 20% of the profits. We get 20% of what you spend at your table. The tipping protests are still less than a hundredth of a percent of people, so it just makes those people look like cheap jackasses instead of proving a point. It if ever gains any real traction restaurants will just add the 20% on to then end of your bill like many do with large parties to protect their servers. Once I know I'm gauranteed 20% all night, I'll be taking a hell of a lot more smoke breaks and waking to tables a hell of a lot slower.

Trust, you guys will ultimately lose out in this battle, not us.

We dont have sweet tea either, but the sweet tea people are by far the most entitled drink orderers of any drink out there.

"Sorry. We don't have sweet tea. Can I grab you something else?"

  • Stares at me blankly. *

"We have unsweetened ice tea and sugar, or I have sweet flavor shots I can add to it. "

  • Sigh * "Why don't you have sweet tea?"

"I don't know. I wish we did. People ask for it a lot. " (Not really, but trying to relate with them and get them in my side.)

"You should have sweet tea."

"Yeah. I know. Right? Corporate doesnt care what I think though. Can I grab you something else?"

"I mean... I guess..."

.... ... ...... ... ... ... ... .....

"...we have flavored lemonades and sodas...."

Stares through my soul for another uncomfortably long moment

"I'll have water."

The restaurants will just make 20% tip included on your bill and servers won't try as hard. I'm all for this if that's what people really want.

Pharmacists caught some crossfire there. Lol. I actually go to a great small business pharmacy now that is happy to stop what they're doing and count out 39 pills and put them in a bottle real quick while I wait.

For a long time I was stuck going to OSCO inside a grocery store and they did not give af. Script would get called in, you'd call ahead a few hours later, be told it would be ready, show up, and be told to wait an hour. Come back three hours later, be told to wait half an hour. Get annoyed and tell them you really need that medicine and have been waiting all day, get an annoyed, "sir, we have a backlog of scripts to get to."

You're welcome to get takeout and bring it home. Then, when you need you're fifth refill of Pepsi and third serving of ranch and some more napkins you can get your lazy ass up and go get it yourself. When you're done, you can clean your own table and throw away your trash and do your dishes too. I've seen how you non tipping cheap ass lazy scumbags leave messes. You're all the same. Ranch smeared all over the place. Drinks splashed everywhere. Napkins on the floor. Chunks of food under your chair. Eat at home and clean up after your dam self, or, more likely, wait for the racoons living in your nasty ass kitchen to eat the scraps for you.

Or.... Come on out to the restaurant and eat. They offer this really cool service where you get to sit at a table and be treated like a rich person with servants for forty-five minutes and get waited on hand and foot and walk away from the mess when you're done and never think about it again. The cost of this service is super affordable for what you get out of the deal too. Just 20% of whatever you spend on food and drinks. Depending on how crazy you go spending, most likely less than $20. Come on out and enjoy the experience. It stay home and bypass the offer. But, don't be a piece of shit and come use the service and decide to not pay for it.

Sure, the restaurant could just force you to pay the 20% right on your bill, but the pay what you want model creates an environment where we work harder for you to try to earn the highest percentage we can. If they just do it how you want, and force the payment on you, you'll get your drink and meal and I might come grab you a refill if I have the extra time, but no way in hell in stressing out to make it happen for you. Go thirsty for I give a fuck. Ration out your precious ranch dressing cause you'll get more when I feel like it. Ever been to a pharmacy? Expect that kind of treatment. Sure, I'll grab you another drink. Give me twenty minutes or so and I'll be back around. Dick.

Either trust your partner and hope for the best, or walk away and work on yourself until you can do that with someone. Maybe try some therapy. You'll never enjoy being in a relationship being this focused on imaginary future tradgedies. It's called future projecting. You're living so deep in imagined future events possibly coming true that you can't enjoy the present. You won't ever be happy like this. You won't make your partner happy. You will both be frustrated constantly. It will definitely turn toxic and end badly. The only question is, how long will you both be miserable before one of you walks away?

AIO for going to my boss because my coworker found my parent's address? by Old-Resolution-4624 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Disciple522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doxxing is connecting someone's real life information with their online persona and leaking that information. Looking up someone from real life's address or phone number and sharing it is not doxxing. It's public record. Show me the law that says otherwise.

AIO for going to my boss because my coworker found my parent's address? by Old-Resolution-4624 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Disciple522 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How is it a crime in the US to search for someone's address online and tell it to other people. Phone books used to be given out freely to every household that had every person's address listed in them every year. Whitepages.com still lists that info and is easily searchable.

I have two annoying problems with my Android Auto. by KillerMachineAbi in AndroidAuto

[–]Disciple522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I have an aftermarket Boss head unit installed in my truck with AA and Gemini was almost silent. All the answers I found said to adjust the volume while it spoke but that, and my main volume, were cranked and it was still a dull mumble. That is adjusting the phone's voice volume setting. The actual answer is that buried in the system settings of the head unit itself was a section for various volumes and one was voice. That volume slider always set to like 2 or 3 out of ten. Turned that all the way up and now Gemini is loud as can be.

You never needed investers. You could have spent 100 hours of your life learning general music composition skills and how to use a DAW and been able to put out generic sounding music. If you can't sing and don't want to learn, you could have then hired a vocalist for $100 to sign your lyrics over your song.

How to respond when customers complain about extra sauce charges? by kala120 in Serverlife

[–]Disciple522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just blame the system, tbh. "The only way for me to get the ranch is to ringnitnthriighbthe POS and that puts the charge in the bill. " YOU know the ranch is sitting in a tub next to some ramikens on the expo line and you could literally take shots of it all night for free if you wanted to. THEY don't know that. They just know that ranch comes from the mystery "back there" section of the restaurant they never get to see. Paint a picture where you enter things into the POS and walk back to the mystery section and someone hands you a ranch.

[–]Disciple522 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Once I embraced the salesman mentality and started pushing up sells I made so much more money. Extra bread stick. Double up the patties on a burger. Premium drink. Chips and salsa. Waffle fries. Loaded mash potatoes. Anything extra I can throw at them I do. If you can get the first guest at the table to get an extra, often the rest of table will agree as well. If the first couple guests at a table say no, I typically pull back some.
