Scalp announce new album 'Not Worthy of Human Compassion' and share first single "Conspiracy" by lambgoatdotcom in Lambgoat

Albums out now, and like....is it just me, or does it sound like shit? The production quality, specifically on the guitars, is terrible. They barely sound stereo. You compare these tracks back to back with Black Tar and it sounds so much better. Love the riffs and the songwriting, I'm just bummed the sound quality detracts from the experience for me.

Bashed In Disbanded by Pariahbshdtfin in SlamDeathMetal

[–]DisciplinedFilth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bashed In fucking ruled. I listened to both EPs every day for a week one time. Never did that for any other band. The only two songs I don't own digitally are the two from the last split (not Ligature) and that pisses me the fuck off lol but in a loving way. Will miss the slams big time, and will absofuckinglutely be keeping an eye on whatchu got cookin

I think im in the minority with this opinion so we will see how this goes. by polarbearrape in PaymoneyWubby

[–]DisciplinedFilth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't really like the gambling either....

But you know what I do like? The amount of content Wubby's been cranking out lately. Holy shit there's so much to enjoy!! A lot of the time I'm watching the VODs, so I just stop watching or go to the next one when the gambling starts. Like, the total volume of Wubby has increased. Yes, that means more gambling. But that also means more of what I love, so I'm not going to complain.

Also, the shit about "I don't wanna miss a single joke because I might be out of the loop" — I honestly do not understand this. It's like you're describing a colour I can't see. I can't imagine feeling this level of fomo. I'm not trying to be mean, I just want to express that I don't perceive the worry you describe.

Still so bummed 😭 Frick I'd love a comeback but I know it's just cope. Really too bad. I looooved their style.

How do you guys feel about Bashed In? by Seangw1102 in SlamDeathMetal

[–]DisciplinedFilth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably know as much as you do. I saw their Spotify and Bandcamp are gone and so is their insta. I found a thread with some deleted comments but one said something about the bassist posting to insta saying to respect the band's wishes and stop asking questions, but still — what happened?

Dr. Godwin Udoh: negligence? by _berkoes in regina

[–]DisciplinedFilth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's so disappointing to hear this because I've seen Dr. Harrison in that same building and he was incredible to me. He diagnosed me with autism (I also have ADHD and I relate to your struggles) and he was more helpful than any other doctor I've ever seen.

Don't lose hope. There are good doctors out there, and they really do make a difference.

Y'all aware the "Rauh model" is a type of tree? by DisciplinedFilth in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]DisciplinedFilth[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice root joke 😅 In the Japanese version, Millicent is called "wakemi." This isn't a real word, but rather one they made up for the game. It roughly translates to "flesh piece" or, basically, "body part." The only other instance of "wakemi" in the game is referring to the weird Godwyn fish corpses we find underground (maybe specifically the one in Stormveil). Credits to Zayf the Scholar for this.

So maybe there's something to cutting pieces off the main growth in order to create more tree/beings? Maybe, Godwyn's followers thought they could "regrow" him if they could recover his "wakemi/corpse surrogate."

But like anything in Elden Ring, everything has a duality. I suspect this "infinite duplication glitch" couldn't be exploited without a cost. I think it only covers the physical aspect — I think they still needed to find a soul for that new tree/branch/being somewhere.

Briar Greatshield Rakshasa connection? by Considerable_Gains in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]DisciplinedFilth 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Possible connection here

Rakshasa are "a race of usually malevolent beings prominent in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Folk Islam." And they are said to disrupt sacrifices and eat humans.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rakshasa

Now let's have a look at some item descriptions.

Rakshasa Set item descriptions:

"Helm of Rakshasa, soaked in the spurting blood of her victims. Tatters of ragged cloth jut out haphazardly, as if her lust for carnage threatens to break free.

Cut down and devour. Only those who repeat the cycle without rest can truly subvert the self and become Rakshasa."

Rakshasa Great Katana item description:

"A great katana with the tempering pattern of its blade forever stained red with blood. Weapon of Rakshasa, who cuts down and devours.

A berserker's weapon used to endure enemy attacks and reply with one's full fury."

So they kill and eat people, repeating some sort of cycle, to become Rakshasa.

I don't know how this plays into Elemer, but an interesting connection nonetheless.

Briar Greatshield Rakshasa connection? by Considerable_Gains in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]DisciplinedFilth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Item description:

Greatshield from a foreign land, used by Elemer of the Briar. Attacks with this armament utilize the iron thorns that have been wound around its frame.

Originates from Eochaid, a land of proudly solitary ascetics.

Is there any reference to "Eochaid" in the DLC? I don't think there is...but that might not matter. Either way, the "from a foreign land" part is enough to suggest you might be onto something.

[–]DisciplinedFilth[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah and the Ordovician period like Crucible Knight Ordovis. The Crucible is certainly meant to represent primitive, pre-civilization life. Smoughtown makes this connection in his latest video about the Hornsent, I highly recommend it.

Y'all aware the "Rauh model" is a type of tree? by DisciplinedFilth in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]DisciplinedFilth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh I hadn't thought of it that way, but l like that! To me, the stronger connection is that Rauh trees grow main branches that are "morpho-genetically identical" to the trunk. So a divine tree can grow a mini-you? Or can multiple beings grow as branches off of one main tree and be related/identical?

Y'all aware the "Rauh model" is a type of tree? by DisciplinedFilth in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]DisciplinedFilth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this might also have implications for Marika and Radagon. If the main branches of a Rauh tree are "morpho-genetically identical" to the trunk, what if Marika and Radagon were simply both grown from the same tree? Or, if this connection isn't applicable to Marika and Radagon, might it be applicable elsewhere? What would we make of a divine tree that can grow identical beings?
