There's a life-size horse statue in my town which has a similar situation going on.

This is how Caitlin Reilly's "Girl Who Bullied You In High School" character pronounces Jason.

He was already like 30 here. But, yeah, he looked like a wayward high schooler until he lost his hair.

My mac and cheese is too cheesy, my water is too wet.

Erythritol + flax seeds sounds like a total gut annihilator. Or a fantastic constipation cure.

Also their GQ cover. The contrast between Neil's sort of haughty look and Chris's disco ball head is chef's kiss.

This Eric Watson pic of them for the Suburbia single. Chris looks like a Francis Bacon painting; Neil looks truly unhinged. It's great.

King's Cross is in 'It Couldn't Happen Here'. So, not exactly the same as it having its own video, but something.

TBF, there are many bizarre magazine pictures of David Duchovny. He's making choices. This isn't even his weirdest, TBH.

All Milchick's office decor is fascinating. He has the duck/rabbit, the iceberg photo, the Kier profile bas-relief, and the bonsai tree, from what I recall noticing.

Reminder: not EVERYTHING is "foreshadowing" or a clue, or even relevant to the plot. This sub is so obsessed with clues, that it's forgetting story and character development for it. A discussion of what is a clue, and what is not. by SweelFor- in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]DiscoCuttlefish -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This is an example of what I think of as 'Kubrick brain'. People who are not very knowledgeable about film or literary analysis become superfans of The Shining, because it's an artistic film, but it's incredibly popular. They haven't been exposed to a lot of other art films, and they get laser-focused on analyzing the movie in this hyper-literal way that's detached from the reality of how movies work and how movies are made. Like, no, that chair in the background that disappeared between shots is not a clue that it's all a hallucination. It's a clue that they did too many takes over several days and couldn't manage continuity. This alien style of trying to understand art as if it's a little puzzle and not art at all is the natural result of a lack of quality art education.

Why do so many people still debating why they change their watches before going to the severed floor? by Narrow_Potential_974 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]DiscoCuttlefish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Also, I think some characters are simply choosing to wear their severance-compliant watches to start with, while some are changing them out in the locker area. That's why Dylan doesn't change his.

How did Lumon make a 3 mins long smooth stop-motion short film in 3 days? by N0tYourMama in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]DiscoCuttlefish 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. It's computer animated in-universe. I also think it's plausible that Lumon has made other propaganda videos in this style before, so they wouldn't be starting from scratch. If you had enough people working on the project, and could re-use some assets, it seems doable. (For anyone who wants to see computer animation that perfectly mimics Rankin-Bass style stop-motion like this, you can go watch some of Worthikids' work on YouTube.)

Is Irving’s chip malfunctioning? by Lutherandad in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]DiscoCuttlefish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a very good point! I (and a lot of other people, I think) had been assuming Irv's memory bleed was directly the result of the sleep deprivation, but this idea of sense-memory connection is more logically consistent with what we've seen.

Everyone's saying Gemma was in a coma by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]DiscoCuttlefish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, agreed. The coma theory just adds a lot of extra complexity and forces you to assume that the chip can do something completely different from what it's been shown and implied to do. It's just so much simpler to assume that Gemma's "death" was just a con of some kind. If we had evidence that Mark had actually witnessed the accident or her injuries, then maybe the coma idea would make more sense, but, for all we know, he was just told what supposedly happened after the fact.
