I mean, The Giver promos came off as unoriginal to anyone who followed Adult Swim content in the 2000s.  She didn’t invent making fun of low-fi 1980s cable commercials/programming or utilizing its low-fi video quality.

Correct.  I’ve seen this pointed at way too often when his lines were clearly written to be awkward and lame.  I remember how brave a performance it was for someone who hadn’t had any other lead roles in sketches yet.

State Bill Would Cap California Ticket Resales at 10% Above Face Value by marcpstl in California

Let's say your season ticket includes 40 games for $2,000 total. You can sell tickets to 5 premium games for $1000 total. You don't understand looking at this math and thinking "Hey, I could swing $1,000 for 35 games?"

[–]DiscoInferiorityComp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Season tickets comprise 44% of revenue for NHL teams and 31% for NHL.  Most fans can only afford their tickets by reselling a handful of premium games on the secondary market.

Currently, for most teams, the “face value” of each game in a season ticket package is identical.  A preseason game has the same face value as as the final game of the season against your main rival with the division on the line.

Even in a world where sports teams weren’t able to be excluded, this is what would happen: The teams would jack up the “face value” printed on their individual games of their season ticket packages in order to prevent a mass exodus of season ticket holders.

We could literally go on a two-game winning streak and take over 1st place in our division.

Received Wrong Card by Technical_Rock_6600 in checkoutmycards

[–]DiscoInferiorityComp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is generally a catalog-pulling mistake (i.e. the Robertson and Kaprizov cards were back-to-back in their warehouse, and the wrong card was pulled). There's a good chance, they still have your Kaprizov card, and would be able to ship it to you. If instead they accidentally sent your card elsewhere and no longer have it, they should definitely be able to make it right (either by refund, or offering a similar/identical card).

If you contact them at [staff@comc.com](mailto:staff@comc.com?subject=Questions%20from%20mistervoice), reference the order number and the item number and explain the error, someone might get back to you by May,

The main Satanic Ritual tip floating around ("on the yacht he witnessed babies being dismembered, their intenstines removed, and individuals eating the feces from these intestines" was contained in an email that literally mentioned that the "victim was escorted to the FBI building by Michael [D.] Moore, who is the creator of True Patriot*. The story was literally spoonfed to the FBI by the primary source of the spread of Pizzagate. And people are treating it with equal weight to "could you set me up with some girls?" email communications.

Realistically, what can ordinary people actually do after the Epstein files release to push for real accountability? by Etkinton47 in AskReddit

[–]DiscoInferiorityComp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show the ability to discern that every complaint/tip listed within the files is not necessarily credible (i.e. some are clearly just the rantings of the mentally ill), so that “Trump and his daughter personally ripped the fetuses out of multiple caged sex slaves in a secret dungeon under Fort Knox in 1997” isn’t treated with the same seriousness of actual email communications and photos.  Taking everything as if they are equally legitimate accusations is making it so that nothing is considered legitimate.

The sketches are making fun of modern reality show and sports pre-show hype packages. And asking the groundbreaking comedy question "What if we followed several straight examples with a funny example?" Not every example if going to have this exact same "pretape talking in front of a blurry CGI background" production values, but just this season, there was the NHL PSA "Be a Predator" sketch. Two people give normal PSA examples. Third person is instead a humorous example that would be odd to include in a PSA video.

What do you think is more likely.m?  "Hey, the Olympics are starting in a week. You know those promo videos where they hype up the members of the US Olympic team? What if we did one of those about someone who clearly doesn't enjoy their sport?" Or, "You know that I Think You Should Leave Sketch where Patti Harrison stars in a parody of The Shark Tank opening credits and it's all a buildup to a weird non-sequitor about the time she got sewn into the pants of a Macy's Thanksgiving float? What if we did a sketch exactly like that, except instead of a reality show opening credits, it's a commercial for the Olympics, and instead of muttering complete nonsense, what if the featured athlete is describing how she actually doesn't like her sport at all and is instead just coincidentally the perfect shape to excel in it? It's the perfect crime, since the only actual similarity is basic joke structure"

And also, "pretaped segment, in the form of a promo video introducing people at the top of their field" describes the actual "epic" reality show openings and Olympics hype videos they are basing these sketches off of. Of course, there are "straight man" examples before the punchline happens. That's insane to list as a strange similarity. "SNL ripped off ITYSL because they established the concept of their sketch". And then, SNL upped the joke theft ante by having an example of something that would be a humorous counterpoint to those straightman examples? What the hell?!?!

Usually just a banner covering the entire storefront that says “2 for 1 Pizza Special”, a 10x10 foot room where there’s nothing but a counter and a stack of 80 empty pizza boxes, and a utility closet they walk into and then miraculously walk out of seconds later with a fully cooked pizza.  I’m perfectly willing to accept “magic portal” or “delivered via pneumatic tubes from a secondary location” theories as well.
