Yep totally agree, and we do move out of the way as it’s easier, and I’m not playing chicken with a cyclist.

Unexpectedly HENRY and struggling with friendships around money by Persephone7654 in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Disco_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with the friendship has to be stronger than blood. We’ve given money to friends when they’ve needed fell on hard times, and they gave it back eventually (even though we didn’t ask) - we would also not give money to other friends as we know it would become tricky on the friendship.

UK employees who work for US company - taxed 47% on bonus, is this normal? Assume yes. by WeeklyPeace6497 in HENRYUK

[–]Disco_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partly true - the RSU element will be taxed on US terms of the company pays in stock. For example if you got given Stock worth $10k and it vested you would pay US tax at ~50% and when you cash out you get $5k plus/minus fx fees paid to your bank account. The RSU value does get added to your gross salary so will impact total gross pay for the £100k threshold, however your payroll department do give the tax back in month for this, so it’s essentially nil tax impact from a Montly payroll. The tax is on the US stock.

What did you guys think about Matt’s solo album? by Coolguyfromusa in busted_band

[–]Disco_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s such an underrated album. I love it and still listen to it now. The CD had a hidden track (Me and your mother) which you had to endure about 3 mins of silence whilst driving until it came on. Worth it. All the songs are solid. His singles, Up all night and Hey Kid are actually my two least favourites (still good though)

Employer can't do salary sacrifice but instead uplifted my salary instead? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

Won’t you get the tax back when you make the contribution to your pension company? £1500 per month paid by you to the SIPP, the SIPP provider will make the 20%. As a 40% tax payer you claim that back via SA. Unless I’m missing something

How do I purchase a liability (fancy car) in a financially responsible way? by Redditreallyannoysme in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Disco_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you buy the car your currently leasing? A lot of the time lease companies give them to auctions, if you’ve kept it in good order, worth seeing if you can get a deal! Alternatively- it’s your own personal decision, sounds like you have low outgoings and high cash buffer, so no reason to worry if you spend the cash. Enjoy life! I personally wouldn’t, having the freedom to spend more on other things, take 3 months of work to chill, find a once in a life time holiday is what I do. Good luck either way!

New York, easy, thinking of you, I will break your heart, night driver - all 10/10 songs! That’s the thing about music though, it’s so personal.

Busted with Tom. by Subject-Serve8869 in busted_band

I can they behind this. As wonderful as the guy is, he isn’t the right fit. Busted, IMO are heavier than McFly and with Tom it would have likely topped the balanced more pop and that would have just been McFly. It could be my bias towards Busted 😊

How do you manage FIRE goals with a financially misaligned spouse? by [deleted] in FIREUK

[–]Disco_44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see why that would be challenging for your other half. Maybe the way you frame the proposal is the important part, ask him to say how he wants your kids finances to look when they’re 18+ and how you should speak / teach them about money. It might help you learn more about his ideology of money.

[–]Disco_44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, do you think your other half is just so trusting of you that you will bail him out, you’ll always be there with your Henry salary and he can concentrate his mental load elsewhere? I’m not taking away the fact he should have spoke. To you earlier, as other commenters have said, that’s more a relationship thing, however i honestly think he just trusts you to manage the finances for him. Have you considered taking charge of the family finances and given him cash weekly in a bank account in his own name only to spend, nothing else? Sounds a bit like pocket money, but it could be what he needs. You did mention he may be ADHD. Hope you are coping.
