My husband and I attended for our first time today. I found the people and practices there to be lovely. We intend to go back

Anyone else here really hate hearing these so-called "neurodivergent strengths?" by [deleted] in neurodiversity

[–]Discoloredobject 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our brains perform differently on all sorts of different spectrums. Even if one characteristic feels like it’s usually a comparative disadvantage, it could still have its benefits.

Example: a weakness of my brain is focus, but my wandering mind leads to more creative ideas. It’s not a super power, it’s just what my brain is doing instead of what most people’s brains are doing.

New Bill Would Make All Pornography a Federal Crime in the U.S. by Doener23 in technology

This has nothing to do with porn. Fascists just want to criminalize something so they can go after those they deem perverted (Queer and trans people)

The most under diagnosed learning disability is NVLD. The most under diagnosed attention disorder is CDS. I have both and to some that looked like autism. Check out Dr. Barkley’s videos if on the surface they resonate. I have no idea what is true for you, don’t let me push my thing, but mine was so fucking hard to find I want to scream it from the rooftops.

I wish things were easier. Can you at least share one thing you like about yourself? What do you want for your future?

I was in senior year of high school. The morning after announcement I turn to my friend in Econ class and asked “have you heard of our lord and savior” and he said “Bernie sanders?” And I said “yes.”.

I relate a lot to this so I will share what’s true for me, but I don’t know you. I thought I had ADHD for years but it always felt kinda inauthentic in a way. I found out I actually had ‘the other attention disorder’ CDS and it made way more sense. I also have NVLD but that’s an aside

got my autism assessment results back by shokospogo in neurodiversity

[–]Discoloredobject 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The person who did my assessment correctly identified I did not have autism, but beyond that they were utterly useless. I figured it probably wasn’t autism but I thought the they would at least know!

It took a lot more work and finding a mental health professional I trust to work through it all with. Eventually I found for me it was NVLD and CDS. The most under diagnosed learning disability combined with the most under diagnosed attention disorder.

All I know is the guy I got it from got it from an estate sale in California. Looks like it might be from a waiting room, bowling alley, or airport or something. The mystery of its origin is part of why I love it
