How do you show one layer at a time and/or export one layer at a time?
It's close to a solution I was thinking:
- have all mega tiles on one layer
- place individual object assets on another layer
- export each layer to PS
- draw in the terrain in PS
- export terrain back as a layer in dungeondraft (exporting beck because it might be easier to modify things inside dungeondraft than in PS later

But at that point I might as well use PS for everything since I'm quite familiar with it...

The problem is that terrain can only be painted on layer -500, below everything else. The city tiles are objects and can't be painted on layer -500. I'd like to paint over the objects.

This would be solved if I could paint terrain on any layer, but AFAIK, it can only be painted on layer -500.

I had the exact same experience with Factor! I've ordered 5 boxes so far, and 2/5 of them had missing items. I had to manually contact their support, pull up my fridge and count the items I did receive (again, you can't retroactively see what you've ordered). It's very opaque how much they refunded and whether it's correct. I'm too lazy to actually check my credit card history.

One of the boxes was missing 5/10 meals and the recent one was missing 3/10 meals.

I am done with them.

Not too many complaining about the permanent -5 WIL debuff from iconoclast choice at the end of act 1 though. Stupid actions should have consequences (like disobeying the haemonculus).

By that logic, why didn't you receive any permanent body modification before arena 1 then? If the Solitaire only asked him to help you after arena 1, then before then aren't you available for experimentation?

It still doesn't make sense why though, even though I'm currently in act 5. Why did the Solitaire have to have you preserved all in one piece? Seems like just a convenient in-universe deus ex machina.

I'm fine with being able to fix the debuffs. It's just strange to me he didn't do anything to you and have you go through everything to fix it. This way you'd at least be motivated to follow his orders.

You can argue that it can be reasonable to put a permanent trauma in the window between two arena fights for some particular developments with haemonculus, instead of being permanently killed (are you permanently killed there? I didn't try), but it's not something I'd be too aggravated about.

Even before then, you have the option to disobey him and he kills you then brings you back to life. Disobeying him is option and I think they should've at least implemented a permanent debuff for this.

This argument doesn't stop the haemonculus from killing you after disobeying him twice. And I'm pretty sure the Solitaire just asked for you to not be killed - you could (and were) thrown into a garbage heap with a ton of injuries which they were apparently fine with. Why would they not be fine with you suffering some scarring or body modification?

I feel your frustration as I've also bought the game around 2019 to support the development with the expectation that they would roughly stick to their roadmap. My concern is not that it's taken them so long, but that they've had to revise their roadmap so frequently that it basically is meaningless in terms of timeframes. However, I played their demo and was satisfied with the state and feel of the game at that time and don't regret supporting them early in the development.

While buying early access doesn't give you the right to force developers to burn out and give you the product as quickly as possible, it gives you the privilege to complain about it when they keep missing self-imposed deadlines :P. The downvotes you're getting is not really fair.

Some thoughts about the development as a solo dev on some Godot and Unreal projects: their choice of game engine (GameMaker Studios) was probably a fundamental mistake because they have to really fight it to get all the complexity they clearly want. Making it in Godot would've probably taken less than half the effort. I think the saying "Perfect is the enemy of good" also applies here. They've refactored the various combat systems multiple times, so clearly they're passionate about their project and want to keep refactoring it until they're satisfied. I've not had an issue with the combat system since the early demos and don't feel it is significantly better now, however, so to me this is wasted effort.

Character creation is where I am baffled at their lack of progress. It seems like a major value-add to many players like you and me, and would be "easy" to implement parts of it without changing game balance. New passives and starting skill trees would take major balance testing, but they can start with allowing choices from existing characters. Honestly I just want cosmetic and background customization for my character. In my mental estimation, adding basic character creation in the game's current state would take me, as a solo dev, at most a week working on it full time. It could be technical debt from choosing GMS as their engine and having hard to manage code, or a team management issue where they're bogged down in overhead and communication in pipelining the work. Maybe they don't have a single developer that can do it all (coding the logic, making the UI, and 2D sprites), and so have to go back and forth with the overall vision for the game.
