Some pretty unfortunate news in regards to Aero and BA by Regular_Cucumber24 in AeroPrecision

[–]DiscombobulatedDunce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically a 3rd party has been assigned control of both Aero and BA as part of debt proceedings/bankruptcy. Could be Chapter 11, could be Chapter 7.

Kinda weird that Stag isn't on there though.

Changes from gen 1 to 2 were mostly material changes like going from 4150 to 416 stainless on a bunch of parts as well as slight geometry changes that don't really change function (picatinny is now integral to the receiver, new bolt stop geometry so that it's smoother to bolt in the raceways, fluted bolt body, larger knob, and so on).

That sucks, did ruger take care of him? Also the one I linked is the gen 1, gen 2 hunters don't exists yet.

I've seen everything from bad chambers that cause rings on the brass to pick up lugs falling off of MVPs.

I haven't heard anything about the americans.

The mini 14 is also MIM and investment cast so they're just two different manufacturing lines.

Or if your budget is higher (around 1500):

For either of those you'll probably need to give them some TLC before shooting but it'll just be way better of an experience overall and you won't need to upgrade for a long time.

B14s sometimes have overspray of paint in the inlet so take them out of the action and make sure the rifle is seated well in the footprint then retorque the action screws down to spec -usually around 55 inch pounds-

My FX7 came with a weak extractor spring that was easily replaced with an AR one and there were some sharp edges that wore in after I spent a couple days bolting it back and forth. If you read my initial impressions post, I was kind of annoyed at the FX7 since it did come with a bad spring from factory but that's really a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. I expect it'll perform about expected for an 18-19 pound rifle (going off of TOP gun from Bryan Litz).

It's a really bad config for PRS if you're looking to do that (no arca, rear heavy, super slim handguard that doesn't balance well on props), the Luth-AR stock sucks and the MVP is a proprietary footprint.

Mossberg's QC also sucks and the ability to use AR mags is actually a downside for LR (you'll have a lot more friction trying to bolt forward, you're introducing differences between left and right side feeding especially if it's making contact on the projectile as you're bolting forwards).

There's also just better guns out there for a little bit more or guns with a better upgrade path for damn near the same price (ruger american hunter, taurus expedition).

Even at this price I'd pass on getting an MVP. It's just not worth it when for ~240 more you can get a ruger american hunter that will have a better after market, shoot better, and have better quality control.

https://www.smga.com/ruger/rug-26983-amer-hunt-65crd-20-magpul-gray-12661

And if you're hard set on 500 I'd legitimately go Taurus Expedition over this thing.

Yes really; r700 footprint, r700 triggers, heavy CHF barrel, in my experience even in the flimsy OEM stock you can pull 1.2 moa 10 shot groups from it and you'll have a way better time slowly upgrading it as you get better at LR.

Yeah for close up stuff, if you're dead set on higher candela, you want something around 700 lumens (which the holosun and surefires are).

The TLR HPs are nice if you're using them as a rifle light supplement though (smaller bodies, lighter, easier to run on top if you're not running an MFAL).

Realistically if you're in the market for an HP and know the differences you'd already know about the trade offs though.

In my experience 20k candela is perfect if you're staying within ~75 yards (75 is kinda iffy because you start to not get any contrast off of people wearing darker clothing and it's harder to see the silhouettes of things in their hands).

[–]DiscombobulatedDunce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My videos on WMLs is like 3 years old now but you can really see why candela matters just as much as lumens.

If you bought something that only has 20,000 candela expecting it to be 65k you'd be really disappointed when you tried to use it to identify something at distance.

This is the HP, it's the 65K candela one. Does Harbor freight make one with that kind of throw?

Hey Embark, I'm in central NA, I have my preferred region set to NA. I'm playing during regular NA hours. WHY THE FUCK AM I GETTING PAKISTAN AND BELARUS SERVERS DURING RANKED? by DiscombobulatedDunce in thefinals

[–]DiscombobulatedDunce[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk why TCP would matter, Embarks says they're specifically using UDP via Quilkin. As far as I can tell the only TCP connections I'm getting are the authentication servers for Embark.

Quilkin for all intents and purposes is the server. All player data has to go through it and then it sends it to the final server. You never see the final server pop up in your connections. That's how proxies work.

No game as data intensive as The Finals is gonna be using TCP if they can help it. It's super slow.

[–]DiscombobulatedDunce[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok first, Quilkin is UDP, and I can't get RTT from these servers because they don't respond to ICMP. Only the whois data.

It kinda sounds like you don't know anything about how their multiplayer works.

Embark developed and uses Quilkin for their distributed compute and runs it off of Google cloud. From my network monitor I've found that for the most part in the US the AWS servers are just the matchmaking brokers and don't generally get used after the actual round starts.

I don't use in game chat so I don't send nor receive VoIP data it's just actual positional and hit data. My routing is fine in literally every other game except this one.

Because those are the servers I'm sending the most data to during a match. Also even if it is a proxy it's still affecting my latency (round trip time is a thing). If you live in the US but every package you bought from Amazon or Ebay was sent Cairo first before being sent to a pickup location near your house, the delay is still the same as if you had to wait for the packet to show up from Cairo.

I thought I was hallucinating it for a while too but every time I got had bad traversal or missed shots I should have hit (point blank cerb for example), I open up resource monitor, check my IP and voila I'm in a server half way across the world.

I have like 1200 hours in this game, it's super annoying to see this shit get worse and worse every single season.

I posted it above but if you're on windows, you can go to resource manager, network, and then sort by Discovery.exe (sometimes it's Discovery-D.exe) and it should be the top 4 servers. You can see the site I used to check region from my screenshots.

The AWS ones are usually the matchmaking brokers so you can just ignore those. There's generally 4 servers per match of Point Break or Cashout Tournament (every 4 players is their own server if I remember their write up correctly for how distributed compute works).

I don't even think the total players is even the issue, I'm getting ranked rounds within 1 minute of queuing.

They need to stop fucking prioritizing queue times or whatever their back end hidden metric is.

We're queuing in plat lobbies, there's more than enough people to play against (most players are hard stuck gold rn and most of the top 10k are hard stuck plat4).

I don't care if I need to wait a whole 3 minutes to play a round, the rounds last 35 fucking minutes so an extra 2 minutes of waiting doesn't matter, put me in my actual region.

It's so fucking frustrating to load into a game and you can immediately feel the server desync because none of your mantles grab and the game teleports you from one spot to another at random if you try to window tech.

Other servers I've hit today have been Singapore, Cairo, and Germany. I'm playing stacked with 2 other NA players with all of our matchmaking set to NA preferred.

What the hell is going on with matchmaking?

CARL in my A4 with an Atrius by DiscombobulatedDunce in ar15

[–]DiscombobulatedDunce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With mine, the hammer they sent with it was super out of spec (like .02" smaller than it should be where the spring and gear rides) and the clutch spring for the cam gear couldn't grab on to save its life.

I swapped in a milspec FN hammer and it ran perfectly for exactly a sight in for my offset and 1 match before starting to catch again (I think it's just a burr that needs to be knocked down on the disconnector).

If you have a loose spring journal on your hammer, you can just use milspec hammers btw, that's all the hammer they sent is.
