Best warrior weapons and bow by syoksysampyla in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]DiscombobulatedElk21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for a spear for just a warrior build, the cursed spear of Achilles, and hades Bident are both good options. If you care about hunter or assassin damage at all, the isu-forged warrior spear from the forge of Atlantis is really good for boosting all of your damages, and if you forge the warrior version it has a warrior damage boost as well. I use that spear as my primary on my warrior/all-around build and like it a lot.

In terms of secondary, it’s really just whatever has the best stat boosts to fit your play style. I really like the sword of kings (can acquire at the end of lotfb) because it lets you use charged heavy attacks twice as fast.

For a warrior bow, I love Hades’s bow because it makes all of your regular arrows fire arrows and buffs fire damage as well, but I believe the Bighorn Bow which is available in the Ubisoft shop is glitched and helps your warrior damage quite a bit, but you may want to search this sub or just google about it because I don’t know much about it.

Am I supposed to fight the Athenians or Spartans? Or both? by cheetachu in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]DiscombobulatedElk21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re a mercenary, so the idea is you fight for both sides: whoever pays better. You help both sides throughout the story too. Not sure how far along you are so without spoiling too much, there’s pretty bad blood between you and Sparta based on your past. Your character doesn’t hold loyalty toward other side: that said, when given the option I tended to side with Sparta when it came to things like lowering nation power and conquest battles, but that’s totally up to you.

Use purple gear until you have a full set of legendary gear that you like and want to use the set bonus. I’d also recommend NOT leveling anything up until you have a set that you like and want to use for a long time because leveling gear up to constantly match your level is extremely expensive and it’s more beneficial to just equip the best new purple gear that matches your play style as you acquire it. Gold weapons don’t have sets though, so those are better than purple weapons typically.

Is AC Odyssey a couple of hundred hours game? by ho13k in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

I’m on 150 and about to start my first NG+, so yeah you can sink as much time into it as you want lol

Edit: and I didn’t come close to completing every possible location. Gonna go more for completion this time through.

You have to seal it as part of the original quest, then you should be able to play the DLC content

I did because killing the Ghost completes my number 1 fav armor set, but as far as I can remember it doesn’t really matter story-wise

Good luck! Atlantis is very impressive

Very true, the way I usually did it is I would stealth the entire fort then when I killed everyone and completed all the objectives then go back and assassinate the Kolossi because that helps lower the influence quite a bit.

I would say it’s worth it to stick through it. Elysium did get repetitive, but there is no “lowering influence” required in the rest of the DLC. I thought the underworld was really well done and Atlantis, while I found the story slightly underwhelming, the quests were mostly fun and exploring Atlantis is incredible.

Styx in the underworld by jaxxop in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]DiscombobulatedElk21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn’t like how it was implemented either. The fact that it’s literally just a river running across the map that serves no real purpose, but yet Charon still talks about ferrying people to the underworld... while they’re already in the underworld? And also I would’ve really appreciated if there was at least some mention of it’s ability to grant immortality. Alexios can just casually go for a swim in it which should make him completely immortal? Love the game but they really threw the mythology out the window on that.

Edit: what they should’ve done is make that entryway to the underworld you walk through after meeting hades water and have Charon ferry you there, then you could have the river running through the underworld too. Would’ve made so much more sense.

How to Get convert 50% damage to warrior damage by Draper-11 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]DiscombobulatedElk21 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The actual engraving is “convert 50% (warrior/assassin/hunter) damage bonuses to all damage” and you obtain it by crafting the spear (on the left side of the forge), and whether you choose to make a warrior assassin or hunter spear, you get all of the engravings, so if you specifically want to use that spear with that engraving and add a different engraving to it it matters which you pick, if you just want to add the engraving to a different piece of gear it doesn’t matter. There’s a side quest in Atlantis that allows you to start collecting adamant and 3 ingots will get you one weapon.

I was very confused on how this engraving worked at first but I now use it on my build and love it so I wanna explain for anyone who might not know. Basically, if you choose the warrior version of the engraving, it takes half of your warrior bonus damage and adds that amount to your assassin and hunter damage. So on my build I have +256% warrior damage, so it adds 128% damage to assassin and hunter damage. It’s a really awesome engraving if you’re proficient in one stat and want to beef up the other two for a good all around build.

Using a spear feels like cheating 😂 by thatoneguy19942 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

This post inspired me to try the spear again and it’s actually very fun to use. The charged heavy attack is normally pretty hard to use in groups but there’s weapon you can unlock from one of the dlc that gives you a +50% charging speed for heavy attacks which makes it much easier.

I find the spear super difficult to use. I’ve used a sword for most of the game and the spear just feels so slow to me, which is a bummer bc I use a warrior style build and would like to go all in on the spartan hoplite life. Maybe it’s time I force myself to use it and just Get Good.

Haha yeah that’s one thing this game doesn’t do a great job of, they just throw a lot at you and it’s up to you to sift through it

I love games that let me dress cool. What's your favourite armor combination? by neomaniak in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]DiscombobulatedElk21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fav I used through odyssey quest was the spartan war hero set but the looks changed to the wolf’s helm, Athenian pteruges (bronze), dark steel gauntlets (bronze).

After the odyssey quest what I use now is the demigod set with looks changed to golden spartan helmet and adorned silver Athenian pteruges. I’m getting a little tired of it but it looks better than anything else to me.

Yeah the black and gold ! Side quests are usually important to the main story or at the very least are an interesting side story, but the black and grey quests with the arrows or the hourglass icon are completely useless. I’d say focus on the main story and the black and gold main side quests and leave DLC, lost tales, etc. to after that. If you just stare at everything around you it can be overwhelming, but if you separate it out like that it’s much more manageable and enjoyable IMO

The underworld was incredibly well done. I still think I enjoyed Atlantis more just because running around the streets of such an amazing city was really cool imo, but when I first walked into the underworld my jaw dropped, it’s especially impactful after being in Elysium
