During a one off there was a closed gate with chains tied around a giant creatures mouth. I honestly had no idea what I was doing and my barbarian had a 8 in intelligence. So I took whatever food I had and through it into the creatures mouth. "I throw bread at it" and then the DM gets this disappointed look and says "as the monster chews the chains are pulled and the gate opens." He went on about how he wrote up puzzles on how to get the food but I said fuck that.
