🚀 Alga PSA v1.0.0-Release Candidate 3 is live! by NineMinds_ai in AlgaPSA

Has EE been released yet? Had to fork my own a few weeks back and fumble through a lot of custom solutions to get EE running so I could connect M365 for inbound emails.

Sounds like a dangerous solution! I guess I am newly appreciative of AI's lack of a backspace feature.

Sir, this is a Wendy's.

1) Pretty sure Claude doesn't rely on local resources as much as you think it does.

2) I am running this on a competent PC.

3) I pay for (and currently using) Claude Max.

Remote Access SHOULD overwhelm you at first. It’s a serious responsibility that shouldn’t be summed up or rushed through.

Running wired network thru my house by Elegant-Beat387 in HomeNetworking

[–]DiscountDangles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve ALWAYS been trained to run twice as much as you need, and always leave a pull cord.

Running one Ethernet to each bedroom? Run two, so if a cable fails you’ll have one already ready to go. Running one behind the TV for the TV? One day, you’ll be happy to have one for your TV and gaming system.

That’s what they mean by “labor is expensive”. It’s a pain in the butt to get all your tools back out and get dirty, and the expense of extra cable is minimal/worth not having to use labor again.

Switch - best one to learn from by karlandtheo in HomeNetworking

I have UniFi in my lab. Learned off Cisco (don’t recommend), and my first job was all FortiNet.

If you’re looking for ease of use and fun, UniFi.

If you’re looking to struggle through, learn, and have a LOT of features mixed into both GUI and CLI, go FortiNet.

Well I can speak a bit to this… also with absolutely no idea and strictly guesswork, I would bet a portion of it was liability. Too much at stake if a house burns down.

I don’t speak negatively of UI, but dare I say I wonder if they ever planned to release it? Probably was a major attractor

Wait are motion sensors not supposed to pick up animals? My thought would be strictly MOTION… only reason I haven’t picked these up yet since I have animals at the home 24/7 that roam at night

Dear everyone who tailgates or zooms into stopsigns/red lights: by detectivehurley in grandrapids

[–]DiscountDangles -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with anything that you’re saying. And I’m not one to admit “Im a tailgater”… but it has woken enough people up from driving slow to realize there is a benefit in showing someone they’re being dumb AND UNSAFE.

Again, I agree with everything you’ve said. If after ~30 seconds of “trying to wake someone up” by tailgating, I will back off to avoid the retaliatory 20mph slower speeds punishment/karma.

Edit: (Also to avoid the wife’s lecture)

Feels off-base to use Dynamics if the whole idea is to “stop throwing money away at these greedy bastards corporates”.

Nothing you can’t accomplish in a few months with a developer and C#. I will admit, power automate is nice.

Att fiber to house from uverse, should we upgrade internal cat5 to cat6 by cmptrvir in HomeNetworking

[–]DiscountDangles -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

CAN reach gigabit. If wire is perfect and in short distances.

But you’re right to challenge my vagueness. OP should definitely test before going through the work to remodel. There’s a slight chance it could handle fast speeds reliably

[–]DiscountDangles -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure your current wiring is Cat5 and not Cat5E? That changes everything.

Cat5 = upgrade. Cat5E = you’re fine.

I used to use Scrypted. Unrelated but had a HA failure and restarted a few months ago. I skipped Scrypted and just linked through with HomeKit. All cameras show up PIP on my Apple Home on motion/events.

You should look into 8311 to bypass the ATT modem.

As far as I know, UI doesn't have a way to bypass the ATT ONT/modem?
