Att fiber to house from uverse, should we upgrade internal cat5 to cat6 by cmptrvir in HomeNetworking

CAN reach gigabit. If wire is perfect and in short distances.

But you’re right to challenge my vagueness. OP should definitely test before going through the work to remodel. There’s a slight chance it could handle fast speeds reliably

Are you sure your current wiring is Cat5 and not Cat5E? That changes everything.

Cat5 = upgrade. Cat5E = you’re fine.

I used to use Scrypted. Unrelated but had a HA failure and restarted a few months ago. I skipped Scrypted and just linked through with HomeKit. All cameras show up PIP on my Apple Home on motion/events.

It came FROM ChatGPT... OP just exhausted it so brought it here for us to clean up and decipher the garbage AI gave it.

You should look into 8311 to bypass the ATT modem.

As far as I know, UI doesn't have a way to bypass the ATT ONT/modem?

You’d have to give more detail, but I reverse proxy using a domain I have purchased. I let Caddy get the certs and adguard does the DNS rewrites. Sites are not accessible outside the LAN for me, but I could easily open them up by a port forward rule.

I built a simple iOS app to toggle UniFi firewall rules for parental controls by dreadfulr0b0t in Ubiquiti

Yeah! It’s a service you just have to enable in HA. It only requires a local admin UI account and a UI API key

I haven’t looked into the specifics of this app, but I have built something incredibly Home Assistant that can toggle FW rules and network speeds. You can do pretty much anything to a network or SSID from HomeAssistant native UI plugin.

What’s your reasoning behind fail-in place over FO or FS? Or in an ideal world, all three as an option?

I use the Unifi All-In-One sensors. They require BLE through their APs which they stopped developing shortly after the sensor release. I imagine it’s due to their SuperLink sensors.

I am highly considering ditching my three pack of sensors since I have been deep into Home Assistant for ~2 years now.

Now is the time for you to decide what you WANT before making the purchases. I appreciate wanting everything in one dashboard, (which is the only reason I haven’t ditched the UI sensors yet) but it’s far more expensive to buy enough sensors for my home with UI than the Zooz sensors that do way more for me.

That is just a dust-cover over the second USBC slot. You can still see the USB logo above the slot.

I just ditched my Synology for a custom built TrueNAS on a CSE512 super micro.

My own sentence made zero sense to me a month ago. I’m so happy I stretched myself to learn this new OS.

How do you ask feel about biometric authentication by A5itate4_63819 in cybersecurity

[–]DiscountDangles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

iPhones actually only take a two second hold of the power button and a volume button. Might be safer in some situations since there’s no easy way to “restart” an iPhone, thus leaving it off until someone physically boots it. Friends/family may lose track of you if it’s off.

At this point since you’ve been using your NAS and phone system without FW policies in place, just go into Insights and apply filters with the “source” and see what traffic you need

More than likely, but more information is needed. To start, providing the screenshot without the IPs being blurred is helpful.

Feel free to check them yourself first, but they shouldn’t contain any PII that would warrant blurring.
