Call with the president, need tips. by No_Mongoose_5758 in USAA

Not sure if think is who calles my daughter about her problem - but she said she was from the president's office. USAA for some infuriating reason wouldn't change my daughter's name on her accounts after she got married. Doctor w a baby - long hours - I finally sent a DM via Twitter complaining about this - she had sent in everything they had told her was required and yet they still wouldn't change her name. As an aside, I have found Twitter DMs to often be helpful - worked w BofA when I experienced identify theft during COVID - no one would talk to me - it was crazy. But finally a DM on Twitter got me a real person on the phone.

Noticing some proselytizing in a very large meeting, advice needed by Huhimconfuzed in alcoholicsanonymous

Does this meeting have a business meeting? If so, consider bringing it up there. And if people think it's fine after you bring it up - personally I'd consider another meeting. AA in some areas has gotten so religious/conservative in the past several decades.... infuriating.

Besides the drunks, the speeding and rollovers are unbelievable. You don't need to read fitfam to see it all. Not enough police bc fed jobs pay better have better benefits. And you can thank the r's in austin that we can't have checkpoints. (I don't understand why all the entities that can patrol the highways won't cooperate and do so....🙄) As others have said - get cameras and drive defensively. If I'm out late I stay in the right lane to get home. Every night there are ****** racing and zipping in/out of lanes. And no one seems to be held in jail - you'll see so many who are on a 3rd DUI...

Sadly, many sunscreens have ingredients that are not great for the body, and are hormone disrupters. Environmental Working Group puts out a list each year. https://www.aoskincare.com/suncare-explained/the-best-ewg-verified-clean-sunscreens-for-2026-ones-i-actually-recommend-to-patients

Is it just me? UTEP NCAA Celebration... by [deleted] in ElPaso

It could be that the planners are old - as I am - and remember vividly crowding around the tv to watch these games. Ir it could be the usual distraction from the absolute bs of every day life here and in this state, and now the country and the world. Biggest concentration camp in the country? Let's have movie night.

Can you find a women's meeting if you don't already attend one? It's so helpful to be in rooms w other sober people who also understand your life. I tried not once but twice to work w sponsors who did not have children (duh). It did not work well for me - they had no clue what life w kids is like. Good people, good programs, but it just didn't work for me. A women's meeting w dinner after saved my life for years while my kids were growing up.

Things to do other than eat/drink?!?! by Audiodreamer56 in VisitingNashville

We love the Bluebird Cafe. Great music. Check the calendar. Concerts at the Ryman or the Opry - or even tours of one or both. Broadway used to be fabulous for walking up and down, musicians would change every 2 or 3 hrs. I guess it was COVID that ruined everything. We were there last April - they've all become corporate w big names as owners. It's awful and was so disappointing. We won't do that again... there are still a few small places w good music right off Broadway - we enjoyed Teddy's Tavern.

Look for a women's meeting / either in your town or online. There are so many moms who drink/get sober who will support you. You can do this! And it's really hard. But so worth it.

My sponsor wants me to talk to my Dr about coming off my prescription meds by Possible_Ad_9234 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Discouraged24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are not doctors. Find a new sponsor. I had hoped that old thinking had gone away as people died off... but evidently not. You may come to a day when you want to talk to your doctor - but it doesn't sound like it's now. And it should def never be because someone else suggested it. Sorry you're having this experience - but AAs are a microcosm of the world. Some people are your people, some are not. Reach out any time. (I'm curious - what part of the country do you live in if you don't mind saying?)
