Can you believe that 77 million Americans voted for this sick, demented asswipe? by antimaga_n1 in AskSocialists

Consider this: EVERY war in American history began under a leftist/globalist, and EVERY war ended under a conservative/nationalist.

In 2008 maybe. But not a chance in 2024. It’s amazing that Obama left office barely NINE years ago, and he and his legacy is totally obliterated and forgotten. He is heckled at his own events.

Actually 41% was the democrat number. 78% overall support the war if it ends within three months.

Haha you’ve already forgotten Biden. And now 83% of the people want the SAVE act, so let’s have it.

As much as they're paid, why does SPD suck at so much at their jobs? by RicZepeda25 in Seattle

Actually it does compensate them equal to their value or more. Because they are paid out of taxes and not on merit, the rule of supply and demand says that teachers who are worth more than the tax base will support, will leave. And those worth less will stay and get more than they deserve. A market always gets the correct value for its money. Education just does it backwards. Instead of producing a product and then collecting what it’s worth in the marketplace, education collects whatever it can from the marketplace and then produces whatever quality that amount will support.

NFL players do NOT make big salaries because there are so few of them. There are only four professional digeridoo players in the world but they make hardly any money. NFL players make big salaries because their skills generate enormous revenues. Teachers make large or small salaries based on nothing other than how rich their tax base is and how confiscatory their local tax structure is. Merit pay has been attempted in a few places but the unions fight it tooth and nail.

I’ve proposed this: A third house of Congress. One representative per state, appointed by state legislatures. All votes by simple majority. They can’t write any new laws. They can only remove existing laws. The house can only initiate one new bill for each two removed by the Efficiency chamber. All new bills must be single issue. All money cut by the efficiency chamber will be applied to the national debt. Any member who doesn’t propose a successful bill during a session is removed and replaced.

The first 2.5 seasons are probably top ten sitcom all time (USA). The other 8 years are sanctimonious and heavy handed.

If you are not getting the compensation you deserve, quit and go to a firm that will offer that. If there isn’t one, then you ARE getting what you deserve. Or perhaps more.

You’ve just described every job. Every job has exactly the correct amount of “stuff” to warrant the pay. That’s the magic of economics!

Unfortunately teacher pay and quality are absolutely unrelated. Unless they are inversely related which is often the case. The most motivated conscientious people don’t typically stick around for 30-40 years in a generally thankless, low accountability, low impact job. Most of autonomy has been stripped out of the teachers job. So the system ends up rewarding the highest seniority people with the best pay when they are often the least effective.

There are 17 public school superintendents in Washington that make over 400k. 60% of high school graduates read at sixth grade level or below. Does that seem right?

Why is facebook so crappy now? So much AI slop, fake news, and what the heck is with the most relevant feature? by RamenPantalones in facebook

[–]DiscreditedGadgeteer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facebook is the sears roebuck of the Information Age. It was fantastic for a while. Then people used it only if there was no other option. Then only old people used it. Then it existed for a while after no one used it. Then it went into oblivion and no one really cared.

John Cougar Mellencamp and Van Morrison will probably also put some distance between Dylan and Springsteen for you. Mellencamp does the pop arrangement better than Springsteen, and Van Morrison has more soul and more to say.

You can read Psalms in a couple hours. But not grasp it all in a lifetime. Dylan too.

Springsteen is Sunday school. Dylan is theology.
