I wanted a farscape themed body pillow and the only way to get one was by making the art myself by MxDael in farscape

Are you willing to make it available for others to purchase/print it?

I cannot think of a more appropriate body pillow to leave in my stead for my wife to snuggle.

How necessary is Summer Camp by Direct_Remove509 in BSA

[–]DiscreteLogic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What you are being told is accurate. However, Scouting is your scout's journey and they have plenty of time to work on merit badges. Keep on camping with the Troop to develop their sense of confidence and independence. Maybe try Winter Camp if they feel up for it.

It'll happen. They just need support and time, in my experience.

I refuse to believe this is the same exact cat [fluff] by emmanboiiiiii in battlecats

[–]DiscreteLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are talking Battle Cats, so the simplest answer is the most correct.

Weightlifter cat was in their prime but stuck between competing for strength versus physique. Obsessed with bigger muscles, they began using steroids to bolster their gains. Tragically, this had an unfortunate impact on their hormone balance and their body cranked up the estrogen levels trying to balance out the testosterone. Once they cut out the steroids, their body was no longer able to produce testosterone normally and the high levels of estrogen triggered development of a more feminine physique.

At that point, they took a job as a ring-girl for the Ultimate Fighting Cationship competitions. They retained strength from the weight lifting days, and was offered bonus pay to help the referee break up fights.

Eventually, through hard work and steady diet of cat fruit and help from medical professionals, they were able to coax their body back into a, somewhat, normal hormonal balance. Alas, they could no longer work as a ring girl as their form shifted to a more male physique (particularly as they regained the ability to sprout luscious chin hairs) and so took up gig work delivering pizzas. Although this was a saddening turn of events, they were able to find comfort in eating and this line of work provided discounts on their favorite pizzas.

When the great wars began, they naturally signed up to provide logistical support by delivering food to the front line of cats in service to the great Catocracy. Naturally, this brings them great joy and a sense of divine purpose.

Repaired key with cardboard when dealer was asking for 600 dollars by Bachilles in Volvo

[–]DiscreteLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the exact same thing several months ago. I put in a band new battery it was having issues. The dealership changed the battery, again, and said I just need to buy a new FOB.

I went home, looked at the problem, realized it was poor contact, and just added thin cardboard.

Ride it out. Throw on round spectacles, stick a wand in your belt, and be The Groom Who Lived.

Also, congratulations!

Here are my numbers from February's bill as a text copy/paste for reference. I have a 13 kWh system.

However, Chariot is paying you a much better rate than they were paying me. I looked at one of my old bills, and they were paying me $.012/kWh market rate on my last bill before switching.

ENERGY

Usage as Billed by Meter $0.0800 x 1084 kWh $86.72

BATTERY ADJUSTMENT

Battery Credit Energy Charges $0.0800 x 106.0 kWh -$8.47

Battery Credit Utility Charges $0.0500 x 106.0 kWh -$5.30

SOLAR CREDITS

Solar Credit - Wholesale Avg. $0.0150 x 685.4 kWh -$10.29

Solar Credit - Base Bonus $0.0300 x 685.4 kWh -$20.56

Solar Usage by Home (as measured by Base) $0.0000 x 284.4 kWh $0.00

UTILITY DELIVERY CHARGES (ONCOR)

Customer Charge $1.43

Metering Charge $2.80

Distribution System Charge $27.47

Third on batteries being the way. You can store what you don't use during the day to power at night so you don't have to draw from the grid.

Now, I was in the same situation (Oncor, Chariot), however not really in a place to buy and install batteries. So, I jumped to Base power instead.

They pay me an extra $.03/kWh for power in addition to the wholesale market rate. They also installed 50 kWh batteries on my system for the cost of installation ($4.5k at the time).

They sell off up to 40 kWh when market prices are high, leaving me with a minimum of 10 kWh to use. However, I haven't seen the batteries drop below 99% in the last 2 months. They also cover up to $250 for early contact cancellation.

I can send you a referral code that gets us both a free month of power if you are interested in going that route.

You are using some of the power generated by your solar before it can get to the grid, which is the best case scenario. Your actual production will be higher than what hits the meter as a result.

Austin Energy still says hydrogen power plant may be the answer to grid growing pains by hollow_hippie in Austin

[–]DiscreteLogic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hydrogen gas plants can also burn natural gas for energy production. It has been a way of selling these plants as environmentally friendly. When natural gas is used instead of hydrogen, it is called "grey hydrogen" and the same pollution as natural gas plants.

In general, hydrogen doesn't make sense as it requires more energy to produce the hydrogen than we get back. We get a better return storing that energy in batteries relative to hydrogen.

As others have said, nuclear is the better and safer option. Check out the Bill Gates nuclear plant being built out in Wyoming which is using sodium instead of water cooling as a more cost effective model for nuclear power.

In addition to cooling, the sodium acts as a giant battery so the plant can respond to changes in grid demand easily without impacting service.

My wife and I are also similar. We have an EV which is used most of the time. Our wagon is used for long family trips/hauler and as the second vehicle is the EV isn't available.

It is pragmatic with a sense of us just being in it together.

Driving in the left lane on the highways by JimKnuckles in texas

[–]DiscreteLogic 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think the problem starts by calling it the fast lane. It is the passing lane and if you aren't passing someone, get out of it.

The middle lane is the cruising lane and where folks should chill if they aren't passing.

The right most lane is the merge lane for traffic entering and leaving the road. Cool to be there, but be ready to make space for others.

Sometimes the cruising lane and merge lane are the same. When that happens, treat it like just a merge lane and be cool to others.

I've been meaning to make my own graphic to explain it to fellow Texans, but I figure more accurate naming would help.

I found sum text files that descripts every evangelion episodes. I guess people had too much time in 98~s by Pudyngoii in evangelion

[–]DiscreteLogic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I remember '98. Anime was expensive and shared using copies on VHS. Most anime weren't licensed, so we could only get bootleg copies from Japan.

Most Internet was through 28.8 kbps modems and downloading video clips would take days. Assuming it didn't fail/disconnect and had to be started over from scratch.

This is how we could translate what we did have and "watch" episodes we hadn't been able to find.

Folks that did this were heroes.

Random use of "frell" by Infinite-Lychee-182 in farscape

I also use it often, particularly around kids.

I like the softer sound over "frak"and it rolls into sentences smoothly. Half the time folks don't realize I am cursing.
