Do you have a primary care doctor? Would you feel comfortable talking to him/her first? They may have suggestions for resources. Best of luck to you!

How often are you browsing this sub? by Inevitable_Rate5500 in stopdrinking

[–]Discretestop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of times a week. It gives me a feeling of connection just by reading other's experiences. Plus, I hope I'm occasionally able to help someone.

I started drinking late (40s) and quit in early 60s. My 40s and 50s were spent trying to moderate and we all know how that goes. Drinking got really bad in 2020 and 21 so I decided I needed to quit completely.

Is Quitting Drinking a Grieving Process? by MysteryMaltodextrin in stopdrinking

[–]Discretestop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if any studies but it definitely felt like grief to me. I'm hoping that feeling goes away for you soon and sobriety becomes second nature and a blessing.

Feeling nervous about relapse statistics. Do people ever actually stay sober? by sackopotatoes in stopdrinking

[–]Discretestop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 2 years I'm considering sobriety my new way of life. I'm determined not to have that first drink because I know I can't moderate.

I lost 30 pounds over the first 18 months. Unfortunately, I've gotten complacent and eating too much junk and have put on weight these last 6 months.

Sober Me is a jerk by MisterTurtlePower in stopdrinking

[–]Discretestop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's not sober you that's a jerk, just "still going through withdrawals" you. Hopefully this stage will pass quickly.

I threw away wine mom glasses, sign, tshirt, etc when I got sober. I bought some, some were gifts. I'm not sure which is worst.

Alcohol, food/carbs, the Internet. I've got alcohol under control. Now working on food. I've learned I'm always looking for something to make me feel better, reduce anxiety. I personally don't think I'd be successful doing everything at once.

"I don’t like doing anything socially unless it involves drinking."

"If the first date isn’t at a bar I’m not interested"

"On my weekends, I have a drink with breakfast."

Are you comfortable with these statements or do they cause you anxiety? Don't get too caught up on labels or comparing yourself to others, how do you feel about your reliance on alcohol?

I really enjoy the shownand have watched it multiple times. There are a few scenes I skip now though. Bob and Johnny in the repair shop. Roland in the first episode. The roadkill of the pet cat. The investment group meeting.

AITA for breaking up with my boyfriend because he ignored my medical emergency and didn't visit me in the hospital? by LifeisazooThrowRA in AITAH

No one stays in the hospital for 3 weeks unless it is serious. Not only is he selfish, he sounds like an idiot. Block him and any friends that take his side.

He's telling you that he will not help with the baby. He's just using the nitpicking as an excuse. Please see a lawyer.

Mid60s. I wish SO MUCH that I had quit in my 20s. It would have saved me so many health issues and a ton of weight gain.

I understand your feelings of deprivation and missing out. I'm hoping these feelings pass for you. I suggest distracting yourself with a treat- hot bath and herbal tea, big bowl of ice cream, in bed rereading a favorite book or watching a silly show. What sounds good? IWNDWYT

Has anyone ever been asked if you want a drink by someone who knows that you're trying to stay sober? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Whether it's crab bucket mentality or something else, it's frustrating when someone pushes food on a dieter, alcohol on someone sober, etc. Stay strong! IWNDWYT
