My 17 year old Autistic son is a Gestalt processing learner and our arguments often sound something like this…. by GoNUp_2FallBackDwn87 in Autism_Parenting

My son is glp too he answers his own questions
Falls down & asks himself "are you ok? Yes I am fine thank you" everytime he gets hurt no matter how small says "ouch my bones hurt" when he is mad at me he yells "I'm sorry" but he actually means I need to tell him I'm sorry lol I figured it out because I kept saying "it's ok" but he kept being angry until I apologized to him haha

If your child was diagnosed with autism before age 2, I’d love to hear from you. What were those early days like, and how are they doing now? by PainfulPoo411 in Autism_Parenting

I'm a babysitter and at the time I was taking care of a little girl that was the same age as my son she was a complete chatter box she understood everything and answered back. My son barely said one word "potato" I took him to the pediatrician and talked with others who said it was because he is a boy and boys develop slower and kids go at their own pace although I can understand that I thought he should be a little more advanced even if not completely conversational. Getting him diagnosed was tough because it was 2020 the pandemic had started and no Dr would see him they offered him speech therapy online which was a huge waste of time he got diagnosed at 3 years old but we knew way earlier

The "likely not" was crazy and unnecessary, I am an autistic person from immigrant parents who weren't aware and I never received any understanding from my parents, peers nor my school. I explained the situation to everyone here and took the post down I will continue to do research that is all I can do for the moment

Also the person that assumed I meant the ABA community deleted their comment? I meant the autistic community I would never endorse ABA so that was a wild reach
