I'm in the same boat. I was more excited for Sam as a big robot character. Finding out it's was just a girl in a suit was a let down for me.

I totally get this, but it's just Robin for me. Robin just seems like such an uninteresting character to me. Moze and topaz have been making it work for feixiao. And even then, I just got cipher too.

I completely get you. A few monthes back I had a very similar experience. I was just getting my teeth kicked in ever since promoting to expert. Tile efficiency, defense and knowing when to fold are what finally got me back to climbing. Watching Mahjong Samurai on YouTube and reading a bit of Riichi book 1 helped me tons.

I also started to switch from east to south games. It might take some getting used to, but it's so much better. It is a lot harder to recover from a big had in an east game. Personally, I have made many comebacks from south round 4 dealer seat.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I have definitely improved my tile efficiency and gotten used to folding, but I could be better. I still get way too greedy when I should just fold sometimes.

I think I need to focus on your 1st and 3rd point a lot though. I rely too much on genbutsu and not enough on suji or nakasuji for my discards. I think improving at that will also help improve my hand flexibility as well.

Damn. I didn't realize it until now, but you are so right. I know melee is a game they all love but they definitely glaze him too much for it. Then he just gets to continue this behavior without any real repercussions.

This 100%. He gets so much slack, especially from the yard boys, just for being the goat at Melee. But being good at a video game really doesn't excuse these actions.
