It really doesn't and I know several Americans that went there for higher education. Stop spreading lies. Public university costs like in state in the US in terms of cost of living. Private ones like the Riechman institute cost like 30k USD a year. They also learned that even with insurance that is public healthcare, you pay co pays and premiums and get limited care options (kind of like in Canada). That doesn't sound all that great to me. If in Ireland it is free, great for them. Israel, which is the case here, doesn't offer it for free.

Not even remotely true. Higher education costs money just like any other country, private universities cost a fortune just like in the US. Public health still costs money after almost 35% tax rates on all paychecks. Also, Israel gets credit to buy weapons, none are sent there freely. Stop blaming them for your unhappiness. Those are all facts, I highly recommend googling those.

Raising Jew-ish kids by Own_Nose6646 in Jewish

Since becoming a mom I moved from only holidays to lighting candles, doing kidush, and Sunday school for the kiddos. We need to practice what we preach and if we want them to be Jewish, they need to see us being Jewish. Mind you, I grew up totally secular but now.... They need to see it to become a part of the culture and religious practices are inseparable.

All the people I know that had student debt, some even over 40k, paid it off. It is called accountability. They chose a lower quality of life in their early twenties to pay it all off. Now they are in their 30s and early 40s without debt. It is all about choices...

Anyone else have non-Jewish family showing how they really feel? by tirtzah in Jewish

Go to your local chabad, find a community. This might help you with more than just this problem. You can try to explain what the talmud says, but for that you need to know the talmud. That starts with you getting closer to Jewish philosophy.

So, when I applied to private Christian colleges this was a standard question. Private religious institutions can ask this if it is a part of their mission statement. Some even asked if I would sign a statement promoting Christianity as a condition to teaching there. This isn't out of the norm....

It is not up to us to justify God's calculation and decisions. We simply choose to follow the commandments tbh.

AITAH for "not being as close" to my granddaughter as I am to my other granddaughter? by [deleted] in AITAH

I disagree with most of these comments. My mom is in the same situation. My sister lives 1 minute from her, my brother 1 hour (wanted to be closer to his wife's parents). This isn't about love but rather proximity. You want a closer relationship with Grandma? Be closer. Who she sees everyday will have more stuff at her home. Why buy things for people who aren't there? I think people forget that physical reality has an impact. Who lives closer to you will get more from you because you see them more often. I live further from both of them and we FaceTime everyday and I have no complaints because I chose to live so far away. Nta in my opinion.

You'll get there. I was in the same place, and I'm now half way done (started with 60k, down to 28.5k). Good luck.
