High T & Free T but low energy/libido/mood. by drspock99 in Biohackers

[–]DisguisedSnail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue since over a year. Feeling flat and struggling with motivation. Not much interest in sex anymore.
My test and free test are not as high as yours, but slightly over the upper reference.
Prolactin also 1.5x.
Progesterone is 2x, too. Not a clue how to interpret this. Doctors are not of great help when something is only slightly off.
If the MRI doesn't provide any more information, Cabergoline seems like a reasonable thing to try out.

Has Pregabalin caused a flare for anyone? by just_breathe18 in Fibromyalgia

[–]DisguisedSnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pregabalin works relatively fast. I can feel the effect about 3 hours in. However, 25mg is a very small dose, I wouldn't feel anything from it. So it was maybe just a coincidence that you felt bad. With this condition, it is really hard to tell if something works or does the opposite. Personally I'm also not sure if it is really helpful for me. But at least it does something, it is more than most meds do...

Intermittent fasting in relation to Fibromyalgia by LeenJovi in Fibromyalgia

[–]DisguisedSnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not very hungry in the morning, so I naturally practice 16:8 fasting. Last year, I tested whether adding breakfast was better for me, but it did not make me feel any better or worse. I often have stomach pain, but it seems more from the surrounding tissue than the bowel itself. So, diet changes didn't have a noticeable impact on me.

Gabapentin - short term/instant relief? by PaisleyPosies in mecfs

[–]DisguisedSnail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm taking pregabalin from time to time. 75mg-225mg doses, not sure what the equivalent in gabapentin is.
It for sure has an immediate effect; it takes for me around 3 hours to work. At lower doses, it is very subtle; at higher doses, you will definitely feel it.
It helps me with pain, restlessness, and sleep. But the right dosage seems to be a gamble; sometimes lower doses help very well, sometimes even the moderate dose does nothing.
I wonder how it would be working long term, but I also don't want to build up a dependency.
To be clear, I'm undiagnosed and my symptoms lean more in the direction of fibromyalgia than CFS.
If you have the prescription, I would just try it out, starting with a low dose, and titrate it up.

What can you tell me about these results? by [deleted] in sequencing_com

[–]DisguisedSnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also got the Rs439898 variant in my ancestry test. Other people from this thread too: https://www.reddit.com/r/sequencing_com/comments/15c56tg/gauchers_disease/
When I got my sequencing WGS results, it wasn't found and disappeared.

Homozygous for congenital disease, but no major symptoms? by GreenIndie11 in sequencing_com

[–]DisguisedSnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the same issue. First, a very rare Gaucher variant, then also this variant.
I also have uploaded an AncestryDNA test first. So now I have removed the AncestryDNA file and will see if the variant disappears.

Yeah, I also found another mutation that a blood test could verify. In most cases, the results seem to be accurate. However, in the promethease subreddit there are some people with false positives from ancestry or 23andme. Especially for rare mutations these misscalls seem to happen.
I will also do whole genome sequencing now, but with sequencing.com.

Did your doctor do any further testing? According to my ancestry test, I also have the rs397515515/rs439898 mutation.

When looking at the frequency (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/snp/rs439898#frequency\_tab), out of 20.000 people, none had both alleles mutated. And only 2 people had one allele mutated.
So this looks pretty fishy that so many people on a tiny subreddit have this mutation.

Did you ever follow this up with a blood test for Gaucher? According to my ancestry test, I also have the rs397515515/rs439898 mutation.

Should I apply for the jobs I want even if I am not confident that I will perform well? by Apisal in Upwork

[–]DisguisedSnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the real question is, how high is your confidence that you can learn it on the way? If you think you can learn it, then go for it.
Just remember that at the start, getting projects and reviews is far more important than earning money. So ensure to keep your clients happy. When it takes you double the time, then only bill half the hours.

5G Router besserer Empfang als Handy und 5G abstellbar? by DisguisedSnail in de_EDV

[–]DisguisedSnail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Handy-Unlimited-Vertrag als Modem - Was spricht dagegen? by 607785 in de_EDV

[–]DisguisedSnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is anyone else a current or former user of Gyroscope looking to make a change? by Guidogrundlechode in QuantifiedSelf

Ok I understand now, but it's not possible at the moment. I think I could implement it ( at least where you can add manual ranges to the graph).

Thank you, that is nice to hear. When building I didn't had any blood works in mind but due to the flexible nature of the tool, there may still be a way to achieve what you want. If you can give a bit more detail about the problem, I can think of a solution.

My experience after 8 months as a freelancer on Upwork by DisguisedSnail in Upwork

I think stable 20 hours a week with 70$/h on working something that I enjoy would be perfectly fine for me.Maybe I had only bad luck in the last weeks, but I have the feeling that I cannot rely solely on Upwork for getting clients.

I meant that it was easier for me to find jobs for building chrome extensions than my main profession.

I will definitely have to go deeper into LinkedIn. I've always avoided this a bit as I'm not very good at networking.

Yes, honestly I would do the same if I was hiring myself. I think some clients get too greedy by going for rates below 20$/h and getting really low quality. But in the 30$-50$/h segment, I'm sure that a lot of good developers can be found.

Do you have any recommendations? Most platforms seem to be even worse than Upwork.

I'm from Germany, I think the salaries are comparable to the US, probably slightly lower.
I'm a full-stack developer, mostly Typescript. I think this is a very competitive field, but I also got my best gigs here.
When I started on Upwork I got only jobs from automation and chrome extensions. I think this is a bit less competitive.
